Rare peep-toe heels from Matrix Shoes, "Your Footprint in Leather," for Chicago-based department store Carson Pirie Scott & Co, circa 1940s. Mary jane silhouette. Black leather body with open toe. Diamond-shaped cut-out with pleated leather strap across vamp. Cut-outs on sides at base of ankle strap. Buckle closure. 2.5" block heel. 0.5" platform. Leather soles. Handwritten size and style info on light blue leather lining of each shoe. Would have cost $12.95 in early 1940s - nearly $270 today! Great vintage condition.
