heronlark @saramariex3 actually it depends on the quality of the stone....a low quality 1 carat ring can be bought for $4,000 but a high quality (cut, clarity, color) for a perfect stone could be $20,000 at a fine retail location. A decent stone with a few minor inclusions that is good color and clarity is fairly priced at $7,500 excluding the cost of the gold or the wedding band. Plus this stone is GIA certified which increases the resale value.

loriann593 @cyrousardalan the cert doesn't really affect the price of the object.. Gia certs arent that expensive.. Anyone can mail in a stone and have gia cert it... It does give buyer piece of mind abt what they have.. Also gia does not give a value with a cert.

rlanders @loriann593 they do increase the value because you know what you are buying is certified and leaves nothing to doubt, I recently had one done and it was $100 so it depends on what you consider costly.
