sandisecondhand I've just got a few questions for you: *Feel free to answer or omit any of them* 1 - Do you buy wholesale? 2 - Do you have a Retail Tax ID number? 3 - How difficult was it start a more boutique style Poshmark closet? 4 - Is buying many new with tag items costly like up front/high down payment or is it affordable and can be spread out? 5 - Is it realistic for me as an eighteen year old college student to presue something similar? Even if not through Poshmark? 6 - Why did you choose Poshmark as your platform? Do you not find the 20% steep? 7 - Final question, promise. If you do sell wholesale, how do you go about paying sales tax? Thanks in advanced! I appericate it! I'm really interested on this subject. Ive been curious on being an entrepreneur and starting out on my own business venture myself. claurenzo Hi dear! Sorry, it's been so busy! That's great that you want to become an entrepreneur! I started my first business when I was 21 and it's the best thing in the world. I can't give you the details of how I run mine or give you advice (it's a liability thing). There are several ways you can get inventory though...you can search craigslist, you can go to sample sales, go to garage sales on Sundays when people are closing shop and offer to buy out all the items they have left or most of them (you can get items for $0.50-$2 each, I wouldn't buy a used item for more than $2-$4 depending on the brand. I really would recommend under $2 unless you know you could definitely get $15 or more), you can get a wholesale license. There are several wholesale sites out there now for items under $5. Depending on their minimum, it could be a little costly but you could always start small. You would have to check with your state about their policies and timelines for wholesale tax and figure out how you want to keep track of your records. Poshmark was super easy to start selling on and while the 20% is a high fee, I'm so busy that the simplicity of their platform works well for me. There are a few other platforms out there, one that is much more appealing, however, it will take quite a bit more time and research as their fees are lower, but their shipping is a bit more complicated in that you can choose options, to pay for it, have the buyer pay for it, etc. I work so much that I may just stick with Posh for good. I personally don't like to sit on things and would rather make a smaller profit and move stuff then have stuff hanging around forever because you will get frequent buyers who buy every week or every time you post new items and then if the others don't sell and you're waiting for them to sell to get new stuff, you won't have those continuous buyers. That's my personal opinion though. I know those are kind of vague answer but hopefully it helps!
