Five round cut VS clarity G color diamonds set in a platinum setting come to a combined total carat weight of approximately .55 carats. This ring is rare because in the early 1900s it was rare for a man to wear diamonds unless he was quite wealthy. For this ring to be more than half a carat (or approximately .10-.12 carats per diamond) and to then be set into a platinum setting with platinum prongs is highly uncommon for the era.
