1885 Staffordshire, England Pitcher with Pewter Lid (O0323)
This is a wonderful Pitcher, probably made of ironstone with attached pewter lid. The pewter lid has a molded shell-like motif and the rim and spout is covered with a pewter material as well. The upper and lower body has a swirled fluted design and the mid section area is decorated with an unusual floral and fan-like design around it. This pitcher has minimal crazing and the lid where it swings or swivel was broken and re-attached, and needs to be re-soldered. Overall condition is great as shown in photos, no chips or crack despite of its age. It measures 7.5 inches high, 5.5 inches wide and the body is 5 inches in diameter. The bottom is marked: with an ewer or pottery symbol and says: The Ceramic RTC Ltd., Hanley, Staffordshire, England, RN 39268. Because of the registry no. this pitcher was made in 1885 or during the last quarter of 1800.
