Fabulous piece of history! This comes to me from the original owner's granddaughter... original owner had been born in the 1890's. She said somewhere along the line, in the 50's or so she had this hemmed from it's original ankle length to make it a more 'contemporary' mid length as it is now. Navy blue, dark and even, with beige embroidered 'stripes' that are folded to the inside of every pleat. So the more the pleats open, the more you can see the design. It's a wool weave, no lining, no stretch. Side hook/eye and snap closure. About 4" under the side closure, the seam has opened up. It's an easy fix, since it's right along the seam. Also there is a tiny hole on the back waist seam, not noticeable in wearing. There are a couple of small holes on the navy wool (maybe moth?), and a couple of brownish stains on the tan embroidery, as seen in the close-ups. Truly not noticeable to others when you wear it, you cannot see through the holes. And truly AMAZING condition for a piece that is 100 years old! Totally wearable. This has a 25" waist, but has a little room to move the hook closures over if needed and get at least another inch. Hip starts at about 35" before the pleats open up, and when the pleats are open, this is very full. 29.5" long.
