This is a 1920s Spode's Tower transfer earthenware china set, made in England by Copeland Spode. The color is a perfect, gorgeous berry pink. This was a set with service for 12, so I have been able to remove damaged pieces to create an almost perfect set with service for 8.
The only flaws that I can seen the included pieces are that three of the soup bowls have chips at the rim (see photos), the creamers do show some crazing, and there is a minuscule amount of crazing on the sugar bowl. The larger creamer is stained on the bottom (see photos). I have looked carefully and seen no cracks, and no other chips besides the three aforementioned. I have checked for crazing and utensil marks and see none on the included pieces, except the aforementioned.
Local pickup is available in Colorado.
This set includes:
8 Dinner Plates
8 Luncheon Plates
8 Salad Plates
8 Bread and Butter Plates
8 Saucers
8 Demitasse Cups
8 Soup Bowls (3 with chips)
1 Mini Creamer (some crazing)
1 Creamer (some crazing and stained bottom)
1 Sugar Bowl with Lid (light crazing)
1 14" Platter
1 11" Cake Plate
Just a bit of history: The Tower pattern is of course discontinued, but is still iconic. This pattern was released in 1814 by Spode, and came from an illustration in the 1796-1798 book (estimated publication date), "Views of Rome and its Vicinity." It beautifully depicts the Bridge of Salaro near Rome.
