1920's Art Deco Cherry Red Amberoid Necklace

Stunning Antique Faux Amber Necklace, purchased in 1925. Can also be doubled & worn as a bracelet. A very fashionable accessory in the early part of the 20th Century, Amberoid is enjoying a massive revival right now. Like genuine amber, it is warm-to-the-touch and casts a beautiful glow. Necklace has 47 hand-faceted deep cognac/cherry red graduated oval beads, .75 - 12.75mm (approx. 1/3 -1/2") for a total length of 16". Necklace drapes like a loose choker (model form is not full-size). Beads have tested positive as Bakelite by Simichrome process. Beads are strung on original, unknotted silk cord (restringing is highly recommended due to age). Classic hand carved bone screw-peg clasp (very slight crazing on receptor bead). At 100 years old, a very special heirloom piece and hard to part with. Will be gift pouched & boxed.
