Mintons (known by most as just Minton) began in 1793 when Thomas Minton founded his pottery factory in Stoke-upon-Trent, England producing fine earthenware. A few years later a partnership was formed with Joseph Poulson who made bone china in his near-by factory and the rest is history. Many partnerships followed and Minton continued to produce the finest bone china until 2005 when the company closed for good.
There were two versions of the Persian Rose pattern by Minton. The first had a turquoise border and pink roses and was introduced in 1911. Its pattern number is B838 and is known by collectors as Persian Rose (Older). This cream and sugar set is circa 1920 and is in the very rare ‘narrow’ shape. Both are in near mint condition with no chips or cracks and feature the early 1900’s Mintons England mark on the bottom.
