The Peace Dollar is one of the most sought after silver coins ever produced by the U.S. Mint. Due to the fact that these coins were of limited mintage and were only minted for a period of a few years, coin collectors may want to own Peace Dollars from each year they were minted.
Peace Dollar silver coins are now more than 100 years old. Due to their age, many Peace Dollars for sale on the open market may show related wear and tear. This does make sense, after all, given the fact that these coins were produced to go into circulation. The 1922 and 1923 issues of the Peace Silver Dollar represented the largest volumes of the coins produced by the United States Mint. Both years saw the Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco Mints issue the coins. In these two years, Philadelphia alone struck more than 82 million Peace Dollar Coins. Note: Those minted in Philadelphia lack any signage. In 1923 alone, it produced 30.8 million coins
On the front of the 1923 Peace Dollar Coin design of Lady Liberty is displayed in left-profile relief. Her radiant crown of light symbolizes freedom and enlightenment, with the national motto and the year of issue surrounding her image.
The reverse of 1923 Peace Silver Dollar features a peaceful bald eagle, resting on an olive branch, this image reflects the nation’s hope for peace following the devastation of World War I.
