If only garments could talk! I would love to hear the adventures this one would share. Early 1930s uniform with numerous hand sew patches and hand sewn hem. Great condition for its age. One of the pockets is detaching slightly as shown. This is a great piece to have and fun to wear. Model is 5’3” approx. 130 lbs. Wears a 6 or 8 petite.

ellen_giambalvo I would be getting this dress as a gift for my friend. She would wear it out to dinner (not a Halloween costume) is it gift giving quality (just asking bc vintage). Thank you for taking pics it really helps with figuring out the size she is cute and petite like you

ellen_giambalvo Is that a GS or CS? Does it say Girl Scouts anywhere on it

dana_iglesias @ellen_giambalvo :) For what it is I would say it is definitely in gift giving condition. If you zoom in to see the label it says Girl Scouts on. It is a GS. The patches are all hand sewn on and the hem is hand sewn. That would likely need repair on occasion if she would be wearing it regularly. But it is in a condition where if I was in the mood to wear it out to dinner it would be fine.

dana_iglesias @ellen_giambalvo You can see in the photo the pocket stitching is coming undone

ellen_giambalvo @dana_iglesias how do you wash the dress. Delicates or dry clean? Can it be put in the dryer? I know that you mentioned that the hem is fragile. Do the seams need reinforcement and is the fabric delicate (sometimes the fibers start to deteriorate and fabric can rip if sitting down or reaching up)

dana_iglesias @ellen_giambalvo I wouldn’t suggest wearing it regularly like traditional clothes. It wouldn’t stand up to regular modern clothes traditional washing repeatably. I can look at it tonight to refresh my memory. It has been dry cleaned once with no issues.
