1935A WWII Hawaii $1 silver certificate

Hawaii overprints on the sides of the front and a large overprint on the back. These notes were developed after the Pearl Harbor attack, prior to the United States getting involved in World War II. In the event that Hawaii was to be occupied by Imperial Japan, the easily recognizable notes could be instantly declared worthless by the US government, which would have prevented their use by the invading force.
