1939 Worlds Fair Tie Clip, A Piece of History
This amazing antique tie clip is an original official souvenir from the 1939 Worlds Fair in New York! The tie clip is made of a silver tone metal with a gold tone enamel circular plaque depicting the Trylon and Perisphere in silver on a blue enamel background with 1939 to the right of the landmark. The border is orange enamel and reads 'New York’s Worlds Fair' in silver.
This is a wonderful piece of history. Tie clip measures 2 1/2" x 1/2" - the tie clip is in excellent vintage condition with a natural patina, may be able to polish brighter but I left it as is.
The 1939–40 New York World's Fair, which covered the 1,216 acres of Flushing Meadows-Corona Park (also the location of the 1964–1965 New York World's Fair), was the second most expansive American world's fair of all time, exceeded only by St. Louis's Louisiana Purchase Exposition of 1904.
