1940’s Ceramic Arts Studio designed by Betty Herrington. This shepherdess is very rare hard to find black hair version. The Shepherdess measures 8 1/4" x 4" in excellent condition no flaws noted. The Ceramic Arts Studio of Madison (CAS) produced decorative figurines, wall plaques, salt and pepper sets, and head vases from 1942 until its closing in 1956. During the 1940’s and 1950’s a time when most of the well-known ceramic designers came from California, Betty Harrington created designs for Ceramic Arts Studio located in Wisconsin. Betty Harrington, an artist with little formal training, but a very creative vision. Her figurines are very very collectible and very modern art forward. The studio developed a reputation for high-quality, nicely detailed ceramic figurines that are desired today for their quaintness and collectibility.
