1940's Guild Creations Purse Marcasite Frame Black Wool

A great vintage purse made out of fine quality black boiled wool with an intricate silver marcasite frame. The marcasite frame is openwork with convex raised areas at the sides. The silver-tone elements all have texture and are a variety of designs studded with sparkly marcasites. Frame goes across the top of the front and measures 5" (12.6cm) at the widest (bottom edge) x 1 3/4" (4.6 cm) long. The wool body is gathered at the top allowing the purse to billow out. The inside is lined with black satin having a pocket both front & back edged with a silver cord (looks like leather). The back pocket additionally has 2 interior dividers for fast retrieval of essential items. Stamped on the satin in silver flowing script: "Guild Creations". Purse can sit upright, especially if filled with 'stuff'. The matching wool handle is long enough to fit over the shoulder. Measures: Purse body is 9 1/2" (14.2cm) long x about 11" (28cm) at the widest. Strap drop is 7 1/2" (19cm). I found 1 tiny moth hole on the back bottom edge, otherwise the purse doesn't look like it was used much, if at all.
