This beautiful bracelet is in lovely condition. It is Japanese and features the ancient craft of Damascene, the process of hammering inlays of pure gold, silver and copper into a very finely grooved steel backing which is then etched to created a black background.
The panels are then backed with an ornamental gold plated panel and are joined with gold plated linking rings to form the bracelet. The panels are a gorgeous being a scalloped shape with two butterfly panels at the centre. Each panel depicts different motifs of Japanese importance two of which include Mt Fuji. The precious metals in this piece are pure silver and gold. The clasp is marked k24 indicating the gold used in this piece is pure gold or 24 carat gold.
I have not cleaned this bracelet and it has original tarnish which is preferable for some collectors. There is some light scuffing to the gold plating to the back of the motifs. The panels show no corrosion. The panels are simply beautiful.
The bracelet is 180mm long excluding the clasp tab and each round scalloped panel is 12mm across and the butterflies are 16mm x 20mm
