The framed set consists of an authentic First Day Cover and corresponding plate block. A First Day Cover cancellation bears the date of issue of the stamp (June 9, 1947), along with the place where the stamp was first issued (Atlantic City, NJ) by the United States Postal Service. The city of issuance bears direct significance to the topical subject involved. First Day Covers have been coveted collectibles for many years not only because of their philatelic and historical significance, but also by virtue of the artistically crafted commemorative design which is called a cachet, on the left side of the envelope. It is important to note that such covers have been produced in limited qualities at the time of issuance and can never be produced thereafter with any degree of authenticity.
The mint plate block (with serial number - 23660) of block of four stamps contained is a collectible as well since such material is no longer available through the Postal Service.
Perfect for the philatelist or for the physician. This is a collectible item and a rare find the set.
