This vintage apron features a charming bird design with a Mid Century Eames era style.
Oatmeal colored cotton material in a vibrant multicolor pattern of brown, orange, green and yellow birds on brown branches.
This apron was made from a kit sold in the late 1960's. It was machine stitched. Stitching isn’t perfect as this was homemade. I think the imperfection in stitching adds some charm as I picture a young lady learning to sew on her mom’s or grandma’s sewing machine.
The kit was sold by the National Handicraft Institute (Des Moines IA) and was part of the Fad of The Month Club! I found a copy of letter on the intranet from the club that talks about this pattern- I put a copy of the letter in pictures (it is not included just a reference that I found interesting).
This is a perfect piece for collectors of vintage linens and textiles, or for those who appreciate something unique.
