loulousfo Born in Vienna, in 1939 Nelly de Grab escaped Czechoslovakia with her husband and son, selling the family Stradivarius violin to pay for passage to America. She began designing in the late 40s and by 1955 she had a pretty big operation on 7th Avenue and continued to design separates up until her death in 1972. Lowell Judson took over as designer for the firm after her death and the company stayed in business through at least 1976.
