1960s-70s Brutalist Aztec Necklace Mixed Metal Collar Copper Brass Nickel Silver

This Outstanding Collar Necklace hails from the 1960's to 70's era. It was handmade in Mexico, or perhaps South America, in primitive, Pre-Columbian style. The piece consists of five red hued copper panels bordered with thin strips of nickel silver. Centered on each panel is a symbolic creature 'framed' in brass. The creatures and additional adornments on the necklace are of copper and more nickel silver. The center appears to be a frog, then lizards, and lastly scorpions. Add this amazing brutalist piece to your jewelry wardrobe today! The necklace is in excellent vintage condition with light age/use related wear. It has a wonderful, burnished patina with occasional spots of greening. I have not cleaned or touched it up in any way. The interior measurement is approximately 17.5” around the neck. A panel at the back can be removed to make it about 14” around. The front panel is 1.5” wide and tapers down to 1.0” at the back. It has a simple hook closure in good order.
