FROM THE ARTIST
This buckle is handmade in a style originated by Kenneth Reid.
Rare tropical hardwoods are cut and individually inlaid into the solid brass frame. The mountain and geometric designs are one-of-a-kind and never intentionally reproduced.
More than twenty-five different hardwoods are used. Among them are African ebony, East Indian and Honduras rosewood, Costa Rican cocobolo, Siamese teak and paduak, and cordia from Mexico.
The woods in the buckle are not veneer; they have been hand-cut in our workshop from solid boards individually selected for their quality and character.
In some buckles semi-precious stones have been hand-cut and inlaid with the woods. The white marble-like stone is howlite.
