Just look at this vintage teal blue dress from Dorothy Lovell's dress shop in Baltimore Md.  Ruffled front and back, with elastic waist and tie at waist This is marked as a 10 but can fit a modern 6 and 8. I'm a four and strangely it fits me well, too. Check measurements below: 18" across chest 17" across shoulders 43" long top to bottom 27" waist to bottom In super great condition.
