Early 70s Rizkallah for Malcolm Starr dress
Rizkallah is an Egyptian designer who trained under Pierre Balmain and returned to Egpyt to
Start his own couture house. From there he was plucked by America designer Malcolm Starr, one of the big 7th Ave names, to have his own line under Starr. The Rizkallah line was priced a little lower than Starr’s namesake line and his line by Elinor Simmons. Rizkallah made a lot of iconic pieces at Malcolm Starr and his designs are often described as soft and pretty - like this! He left Malcolm Starr in 1975 and started his own namesake line again after that.
Has pockets at the hip!!
This is a gorgeous checker silk - so soft to the touch. Feels like a scarf.
You can tell the quality by the high end fabric, but also by the pattern matching. There is a seam down the middle of the front of the dress and the pattern matches up perfectly!! The skill and attention comes through.
Has attached kerchief in the front
Nylon zip up the back and snap closures on the cuff
Marked a size 12
Bodice and skirt are fully lined
Gathered at the waist
Good condition and fully wearable. There is some very faint color bleed (red on the white side panels and the cuffs are a little dingy. One pull in the silk on the back.
