This beautiful Donald Brooks Boutique gown was sold by I. Magnin in-between 1971 and 1973. It's made of jacquard polka dot organza with alternating opaque and sheer black stripes over plum purple lining. The color of the lining showing through is what changes the stripes from black to blue. The dress has a rolled collar, floor length hem, and closes with a concealed zipper in the back.
A three-time Oscar nominee for Best Costume Design for Star, Donald Brooks's own clothing lines were heavily influenced by his work in the theater and were often very dramatic.
