There is a lot of liquid silver jewelry for sale online including here where the seller claims the metal is sterling silver. Sure it can be non magnetic but that apparently does not mean it is solid sterling silver. This necklace is not! You may wonder, but I stated it is non magnetic, though! Yes. The metal is sterling over solid brass. That was the common metal used in liquid silver back then. You can see on this necklace that the clasp is brassy from wear. If it was solid sterling, it would state sterling or 925 somewhere on the clasp or pendent (if connected to the necklace). Just because it is nonmagnetic, do not assume it is! Always ask sellers, is the jewelry item marked 925 or sterling?. If there is no such markings, then look for brassy undertones on the jewelry while enlarging images and ask if the seller did an acid test on it. A magnetic test is just not enough to determine this.
