This is a favorite vintage collectible, the Avon Gold Rush Stein, celebrating the finding of gold in 1849 at Sutter's Creek in the Sierra foothills by Sacramento and near San Francisco. The design features a very detailed and in relief pictorial of a gold miner / prospector panning for gold, old town San Francisco and a Conestoga line of stage coaches filled with gold miners heading into California.
individually numbered with 108900.
The base color is a creamy beige with double banded gold trim near the lip and another near the base. Very intricate detail, gold color, western stitching depiction on handle, heave lid. The top of the lid of the stein is designed to look like an old gold coin. It measures about 8" h x 4" w.
This is an unused collectible, great condition, inside and out. Unused condition, with no chips, cracks or other damage to note.
In 1976, Avon began producing beer steins. Steins have been used by beer and ale drinkers for over 500 years. The Avon beer steins are ceramic or metal and made in Brazil. Some of the original steins were filled with cologne and some came with just the stein themselves.
