19th Century Antique Gaudy Welsh Butterfly Plate Eagle Marked for US Export

Measures roughly 10.25" in diameter, and on underside is impressed an eagle looking to its left with wings spread. The eagle mark was used as a way to indicate its designated status as an export to the American market, at a time when anti-British sentiment was supposedly 'running high.' Beautiful condition.
