2 Lipstick Case & Lip Fix Mirror - Rare MCM Jeweled Purse Accessory/ Compact NOS

Absolutely Adorable Double Lipstick Case w/ flip up mirror decorated w/ pearls & rhinestones depicting a vase of flowers. Very well crafted, this is a beautifully made vintage piece. It is meant to hold 2 lipsticks and folds to carry in your handbag. It is sturdy and well made. The lipstick tubes fold into the mirror via a hinged mechanism and snap firmly into place. This was made in the 1950s but has never been used. It is NOS meaning new old stock. Perfectly clean and new looking. These were meant to be carried in one's handbag but are also lovely vanity display items. Back in the day you were able to buy lipsticks to put into these cases at dime stores & cosmetic counters in department stores. You can still refill them. There are many online instruction videos explaining how to do it with modern lipsticks. I also have noticed that some major manufacturers such as Fenty & Christian Dior are now making refillable lipstick cases and the lipsticks with which to refill them again! You can also melt down a modern lipstick ( they are made with wax ) and use it to refill a vintage case. Fun Fact: Lipsticks were originally made by pouring the melted wax lip makeup into an empty metal bullet case. Ladies would buy a "bullet" as they were called at that time, in their preferred color and insert it into their own fancy lipstick case! Beautiful cases like this one and etched silver cases set with agates and semi precious stones were used.
