Amazing History: The Koransha pottery was first founded in 1689 by Matashiro Fukagawa. It was then called Eizaemon Fukagawa and was one of the very first potteries to begin porcelain production in Arita. From its very beginning the company focused on making products for overseas export. Yuji Fukagawa, the current president of Koransha pottery, explains how his company has evolved with the times.
CONDITION NOTES-All small plates, 6 large plates and all napkin rings are in Excellent condition. Minor signs of wear to be expected w items of this age. I see almost no wear on the napkin rings. 3 of the large plates have some minor fade on the gold trim & one of them has a very small, shallow chip on the side. Still does not distract from the loveliness. All pieces are free of cracks. All have normal signs of use no deep scratches still in Excellent condition with many years of life left. The last 5 pictures are showing the 3 large plates with wear on the gold rim. In the 3rd to late photo you can see very small brown half circle, maybe 1/2 cm or less but it's on one of the plates. The last photo shows the chip.
