3.26 Carat VS Sphene!!

If you've never heard of Sphene, you're not alone. When I first came across this stone I was utterly mesmerized by it and said, "What's THAT??" Sphene is a softer stone than many precious stones - a 5-5.5 on the Mohs hardness scale, so you need to treat it gently (I wouldn't recommend it in an everyday ring). But its dispersion is .051, vs. diamond's .044. And its refractive index is sky-high at 1.843-2.11, so it glitters and shines like CRAZY! It's also pleochroic, which means it shows more than one color from different angles - and specifically, Sphene is trichroic, showing 3 colors, if it is cut right. This VS, unheated, untreated and unenhanced stone was mined in Madagascar and is cut beautifully in a baguette shape, and shows off all of its colors.
