emeraldheart42 You should not be able to hook your bra in front and slide it around your body. This means your band is doing nothing, no support. Look in a mirror wearing your bra...in back is it way up high on your shoulder blades? Its too big! It should be level front to back.
Sep 13Reply
emeraldheart42
emeraldheart42 When you look down wearing your bra is the center tilting way out away from body? If so your size is very wrong. Your band is too big and your letter is way too little. The center should be totally against your body . When your letter is too little, the center front tilts out or is way out in front not touching you, or is against your smashed chest not against rib cage .

emeraldheart42
emeraldheart42 Your straps fall down all the time constantly. If your band isnt your measurement or maybe the next even number up your straps will never stay put all day. Also, the strap belongs on the bone at outside upper shoulder, not in the middle on top of your shoulder.
Sep 13Reply
emeraldheart42
emeraldheart42 If you fall out the bottom of the bra constantly. Your band is way too big, your letter way too little. All your front should be completely in the bra. Snug but comfy. You go up letters until this happens, NEVER numbers! Problem: every number you go up in a letter has more space in front. Women dont know that there are many letters above DD and DDD.(E) ....F, G, H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O,P.
Sep 13Reply
emeraldheart42
emeraldheart42 There are 3 sizes of under wire used in letter ranges . If your letter is too little you hate underwire , it hurts . Because your letter is too little. In the right letter and band size, you wont know its there.

emeraldheart42
emeraldheart42 USA letters and UK letters within asst. brands are often different. You need a good chart to see what a letter in a brand is equivalent to what USA letter. You cant just order the UK letter that fits you in every brand. And if you wear a size H in USA brands and order a UK H in a bra......thats a USA size K!!
Sep 13Reply
emeraldheart42
emeraldheart42 Normally when your band cuts into you and hurts, its not the band being too little. Your letter is too little, you need more space in front, a bigger letter, and a SMALLER band. But women dont know this and buy a bigger band. Ok, more comfy only because every number up has more space in front , but now your band is even bigger so your straps may fall down worse.
Sep 13Reply
emeraldheart42
emeraldheart42 Your back, neck & shoulders hurt constantly. You stay tired. No energy. The band is 90% of the support. It is supposed to hold your chest up. Your straps are 10%. Bad fit means your back , neck and shoulders are having to hold up your pretty heavy head AND chest too. When you have the exact band number and letter .....all pain stops instantly. Most women dont need reductions ....they only need the right size !!
Sep 13Reply
emeraldheart42
emeraldheart42 If you can buy a tape measure at Walmart, take my three listings and go to a store that carries above a DDD. Try on the smallest size it shows you might wear. If the band feels tight, go up a letter. Repeat until it feels comfy but snug enough for support. Your back will be thrilled ! Your straps will stay put from 5 a.m. til 2 a.m. Make sure and put on any bra using the instructions in my listing .....it really lets you see if a size fits or not.
Sep 13Reply
emeraldheart42
emeraldheart42 You get fitted and you hear the person add 4 or 5" to your band number. Your fit will be bad. Adding inches was used in the early days of bras that were all cotton...no stretch. Many stores and online have no idea that method will not work with modern fabrics. Also, a new bra should be hooked on the loosest setting . As it stretches you will be able to use the middle hooks next then later on use the tightest hooks. Getting full wear out of the bra.
Sep 13Reply
emeraldheart42
emeraldheart42 If your bras fit bad, if you buy a strapless bra it will also not fit and drive you bonkers trying to wear it. You have to know your real bra size before you will know what size strapless to buy. An example: a woman wears a 36DDD bra. So in a strapless bra she would buy a 38DD. But you have to know your real bra size exactly first!!
Sep 13Reply
emeraldheart42
emeraldheart42 If your band is too big, you might as well go braless. Its doing nothing at all.
Sep 13Reply
emeraldheart42
emeraldheart42 If you bulge out the top ,sides of your bra......its the wring size. Your letters way too little and your band is likely too big. Youve been buying a band number far bigger than you measure to have more space in front. You will look far better in your clothes wearing your correct size,!!
Sep 15Reply
emeraldheart42
emeraldheart42 If your bra is all baggy, either your band is too big, or youre wearing a full coverage and balconette style bras instead of a plunge style. Full coverage and balconette fit a woman that has a lit of volume in front. The plunge style is better suited for a woman who has less volume in front. A plunge style has less room in the cup. So a woman who has a lot of volume will likely need to buy a bigger letter in a plunge style than a balconette.

sewnina
sewnina @ginabono I found this very helpful. I thought you might as well.
Oct 09Reply
ginabono
ginabono @sewnina I had no idea!! Apparently my band is way to big. I’ve been wearing a 38G. I could never find a strapless bra to fit until last year I was fitted at Dillard’s and decided on a 38G Wacoal, best fit ever actually stayed up wo me having to pull it up constantly. But I wasn’t aware that strapless and regular bras fit differently and u don’t wear the same size for both. This is extremely helpful! Thank u!!! The best regular bra I found is the Lane Bryant bras but they r soooo expensive.
Oct 09Reply
sewnina
sewnina @ginabono I'm in the same boat. I have a drawer full of bras with too big of bands.
Oct 09Reply
emeraldheart42
emeraldheart42 @ginabono At Lane Bryant, catch the buy two get two sales they have twice yearly.
Oct 09Reply
emeraldheart42
emeraldheart42 @sewnina And I include a printed copy of the fit help with each purchase!
Oct 09Reply
emeraldheart42
emeraldheart42 This may shock some of you, it stunned me! But many women want to nothing about this info at all ! I cant comprehend a woman choosing to be miserable all day, week, month,year.....their whole lives. Not every woman will need an expensive new size. For some a slight change that would mean wearing a different brand or shopping at a store that carries your true size. If you use the brands chart, check out clearance at stores.
Oct 09Reply
ginabono
ginabono @emeraldheart42 yes, I do! What r some of the better, less expensive bra brands out there in ur opinion plz? Thx!
Oct 11Reply
ginabono
ginabono @emeraldheart42 well they r missing out. This is by far the most helpful info I have found (opps, @sewnina has found for me! Lol) on Poshmark! Thank u so much ladies! This is very important to me!
Oct 11Reply
emeraldheart42
emeraldheart42 @ginabono Well , once you can try on one in a store, we can go from there. Often it's cheaper to buy from bravissimo, IF you know your real size first AND you pay close attention to what brand it is and look on the brands size comparison chart to be sure what they call a letter.
Oct 11Reply
emeraldheart42
emeraldheart42 @ginabono It's very important and quality of life changing!
Oct 11Reply
emeraldheart42
emeraldheart42 @ginabono Then once you get a perfect fit in one of the brands on the list. Use that size to check what you'd be in other brands. Then you can shop clearance anywhere , usually, or online . Pay attention to if they are balconette or plunge. My listings discuss that .
Oct 11Reply
ginabono
ginabono @emeraldheart42 wow, thank u so much for the fantastic advice. Having a great fitting bra is worth its weight in gold! I suffer w RA and multiple back and neck problems that cause me constant pain and a well fitted bra can definitely make a difference!
Oct 11Reply
emeraldheart42
emeraldheart42 The right size is world changing! I had horrible pain back, neck, shoulders from 10 a.m. til bedtime daily for years. I could barely plop on the couch after work. Once I was in a better size, not my true size yet, the pain was gone , not better, GONE! I hadn't been able to take full breaths for years. Now I could. I was woozy for 3 days. Then ....POW.....such energy with more oxygen finally.
Oct 11Reply
sewnina
sewnina @emeraldheart42 you're welcome. I foind it very helpful too. Us ladies need to stick together. That's part of the fun of Poshmark!
Oct 11Reply
emeraldheart42
emeraldheart42 @sewnina What band size were you really? I have 1 size 36 M left .....gray and black zebra
Oct 11Reply
sewnina
sewnina @emeraldheart42 I measure 35.5 band and 45-46 breast.
Oct 11Reply
emeraldheart42
emeraldheart42 @sewnina You measure pretty much exactly what I did. I had lots of volume and round shape too and the L fit perfect. But if you have more volume, the might work. Didn't you buy some of mine ? If I could see a pic of you in it , for fit purposes only , I could tell by the size you have on which would work. Not being strange , just an idea..
Oct 11Reply
sewnina
sewnina @emeraldheart42 I haven't purchased any since finding out I've been duped for years on bra sizes. I thought I drop into Lane Bryant & try on bras & see how they feel first. I'm still trying to wrap my head around the difference in sizes.

emeraldheart42 Watch the females around you closer...all ages. Wherever you're at, how often do they slide their hand in their top to pull up their strap.....or adjust when they fall out the bottom. Next time at the store or a mall, look at at how many bands are not totally horizontal , they are usually way up high in back. The back should be level with the front under bust! ----
Oct 13Reply
emeraldheart42
emeraldheart42 Seeing those things it's obvious that these females have done these things for so long that they have no idea they are doing it. Starting out as teens ....shy, watching to see that they're not seen doing it. By maybe about age 20.....doing them happens like breathing. All because of guessing and /or a sales person measuring them and adding 4-5" to the band number , instead of at most going up to the next number. .

Nov 04Reply
emeraldheart42
emeraldheart42 @gitksanfire Lane Bryant doesn't add inches to your band number. But they only carry up to a USA size H. Do you know your 2 measurements? This will help me get you to the right store .

amytroia
amytroia @emeraldheart42 i do that all the time, I hate bras, they poke into my chest in the center, and underwires hurt uugh
Dec 18Reply
emeraldheart42
emeraldheart42 @amytroia That means your letter is way too small, and usually your band could be too big . There are three different wire sizes, each used for a range of letters. In some cases the wire is way too small because your real size is in either of the next two groups. Also, if your band is too big, the wire can saw through the fabric and jab you .
Dec 18Reply
emeraldheart42
emeraldheart42 @amytroia When you find your exact right size and best style of bra, it won't even feel like you're wearing one. And the straps will stay put from 5 a.m.to midnight. The underwire will only be snug against your embrace, not tissue. You will love wearing bras for the first time. And likely have way more energy.

Dec 18Reply
amytroia
amytroia @emeraldheart42 and I need a strapless also, most of mine are Torrid or Lane Bryant
Dec 18Reply
amytroia
amytroia @emeraldheart42 well I had a boob job so mine are almost in between what your describing but they do tear drop some
Dec 18Reply
amytroia
amytroia @emeraldheart42 I would love to look ten pounds thinner, I workout all the time and I look huge on top I feel because my boobs look like they are smashed lol
Dec 18Reply
emeraldheart42
emeraldheart42 @amytroia OK the smallest you'd fit in is a 44F. But depending on volume , if putting on that size correctly, it feels tight in the band , try a 44 G.....44H....until it feels amazing everywhere.
Dec 18Reply
emeraldheart42
emeraldheart42 @amytroia I'd say the balconette style will work best . In a plunge style , go up a letter from the size that fits in the balconette. Once for try in some and find what works, we can get you in a strapless.
Dec 18Reply

Dec 18Reply
emeraldheart42
emeraldheart42 Awesome! Before going from a DD to an H, at first, I couldn't even get a full breath when breathing. There wasn't space in the bra to do that. I was dizzy a few days .After that , I had so much energy ! Even more once I bought size L bras.!
Dec 18Reply
emeraldheart42
emeraldheart42 @amytroia You said you were trying a DD. Wrong size , the smallest you might fit was an F.
Dec 21Reply

sueellenmcgoey @emeraldheart42 really blessed to have found you! For years i wore a 36 Dd was perfect Then i gained a 100lbs due to illness and have never had a good fit again.
Aug 09Reply
emeraldheart42
emeraldheart42 @sueellenmcgoey The wire cuts and hurts because your letter is too little . When your letter is right ,you won't know it's there ....except no back pain
Aug 09Reply
sueellenmcgoey
sueellenmcgoey @emeraldheart42 should i try a DDD?
Aug 09Reply
emeraldheart42
emeraldheart42 @sueellenmcgoey The straps never stay up because your band is too big. Your band has to fit comfy snug along with the letter big enough
Aug 09Reply
sueellenmcgoey
sueellenmcgoey @emeraldheart42 makes sense! I have really hated bras the last 15 years.
Aug 09Reply

Aug 09Reply
sueellenmcgoey
sueellenmcgoey @emeraldheart42 oh!! I cannot wait for that!
Aug 09Reply
emeraldheart42
emeraldheart42 @sueellenmcgoey I know how that is .There's a section . How to measure . Bring the 1" around and put it on top of bigger number end . Snug but don't dig it in. Wear your best fitting bra to measure, likely a slightly snug one.
Aug 09Reply

Sep 23Reply
emeraldheart42
emeraldheart42 Some years ago I fit 2 women separately who'd been wearing size A's. They were each stunned to learn that they were truly sizes DD and DDD. Their band numbers were WAY too big. When you need a much smaller band, you also need a much bigger letter too. The shy one hugged me then called her hubby ..lol
Sep 23Reply
jav006
jav006 So I did all of my measurements according to the 3 postings you have made. My under bust is 38 and over bust is 42. However, like many women one breast is quite a bit smaller than the other and one of the cups usually has extra room. On that side, the underwire usually digs into my armpit but fits fine on the other side. What size should I try? I thought I was a 40C but now I’m not so sure.
Nov 13Reply
emeraldheart42
emeraldheart42 @jav006 The smallest you should try is a 38DD. But take a 38DDD in with you too. The wire cuts in because your letter was way too small. There are 3 wire sizes each is used for a range of letters. When you try on, it should only hook on the loosest setting, so as it stretches over time you can hook it tighter.
Nov 13Reply
emeraldheart42
emeraldheart42 @jav006 When you try on, fit your larger side. Try on letters until it feels comfy. And the bigger side fits perfect. Actually, I used to buy bras with optional lift air pillows in them. I found at least 1 recently. You can have it. It would be great for the other side! Read all the comments on all three listings, each part is important.

Dec 08Reply
emeraldheart42
emeraldheart42 @amytroia Try on a 42DDD in a strapless. If the band feels painful try on a 42F. Be careful of which brand it is. If it's a UK brand.....an F is equal to a USA size G.
