Antique 4-piece set of saucer plates by Haviland & Co., Limoges, France Pour M.A. Hudson (dba Hudson Crockery Company) - an American importer located in New York. This classy pattern appears to be "Princess" (known as Schleiger 57), but the coloration is rare - the tiny, delicate pink rose clusters with pale sky blue with subtle pastel green stems and leaves, and blue accent scrolls. Fine porcelain dishes are embossed and rims are scalloped. Marks on the reverse include the green maker's mark "Haviland, France" and the red decorator mark "Haviland & Co., Limoges, Pour M. A. Hudson." Marks date these dishes between 1894 - 1931. Marshall A. Hudson, with his brother, owned Hudson Crockery which is known to be in operation c. 1905-1910, but likely prior as the Hudson China Company, and subsequent years as well.
Haviland & Company dinnerware is finely crafted of white Kaolin clay found in Limoges. Pieces are thin-walled and have an unequaled delicate look and feel. This pastel pattern has a definite feminine appearance and would be nice for special occasion dining, appetizers, or a teatime luncheon.
