Silk burnout velvet coat; a rare, early piece by Jane Mohr - from the days when her tags were written by hand - for Dress To Kill (DTK). This piece is iconic DTK. Jane's designs began as a vintage-inspired collection in 1980. Within a few years her limited and one of a kind pieces were selling out at upscale dept. stores (Saks and Nordy's) and high-end boutiques. Her collections are limited quantity, in gorgeous fabrics. I have another by the same designer/creator in green velvet that I will never give up. If you're not familiar with Jane Mohr - look her up. What a treat she is! scarlettstained I want to say yes so bad!!!!!! you're so sweet Darva.I just don't know how I could make almost 400$ very quickly from my closet it's been so slow. But I truly adore this especially in my Victorian Scarlet color. I sold 2 items only totalling 100$ so far I have a ways to go. I don't want you waiting on me forever.But you know I would love this and Never get rid of it! Oh and you sound so sentimental like me I appreciate special things too

onceuponathyme I don't care how long I wait... I'm not in a hurry to get rid of this stuff... but I'm kind of in a hurry to get my wardrobe room straightened out. At this point I literally have racks in EVERY ROOM in my house!!! Except the kids' bedrooms. :-) I'm trying to figure out why it's been so slow for you - you have a great closet. I've been moving things pretty much every day. Are you sharing every item in your closet at least 3 times a day? You have so many followers, things should be flying out of your closet!

onceuponathyme @scarlettstained ... Looking with picky eyes ... I would recommend NOT putting shoes at the top of your closet. In fact, I recommend not putting all of any one category at the top - if someone isn't your size, it can turn them away before they ever get to the stuff they might love. Also - look to the left. You want to show a variety of types of things in your thumbnail "ad" on any item, so put "My daily picks" or "My new listings" or something like that at the top for more variety. Your photos look fabulous, and your descriptions are great!

scarlettstained @onceuponathyme I agree on the shoes I just joined the shoe party and shared mine so it brought them to the top, I normally keep my shoes at the bottom of my closet for the same reasons you stated my iPhone does not show a featured window or newly listed section I need to log on with my iPad and see or I may be due for an updatethank you sweetie

onceuponathyme @scarlettstained YOu're probably right about your phone. I hate shopping on my phone, so use my computer or iPad pretty exclusively. On the computer it shows a thumbnail of the first 7 things in your closet. . . very helpful, I think. no room on the phone! :-) I wish I could figure out why people buy. I'll have days with nothing, then WHAM, 6 items the next day. I'm trying to figure out the algorithm! :-)

onceuponathyme @lululady I have very few of her pieces... in the "heyday" when she was doing them all herself and each was one of a kind they were at the top of my "pay scale...." I was a teacher at the time, but fell in love with her work. I have a similar duster in green, but I won't let that one go. Of course, I find things on my rack I forgot I have all the time, but I don't think I have any more of Jane's work I'm willing to part with. If something comes up I'll let you know. My favorites from this period are DTK, Morgan Puett (later Shack), Angelheart (which became Flax) , and Marika Nakk. Of these, DTK and Nakk still exist. Both have evolved, but Nakk has become smaller and gone back to her roots - her designs are now available basically only from her own store... you have to call. Puett doesn't do clothing anymore, except in a very ancillary way. She does a very few one of a kind pieces on her artists' compound and sells them to fund other arts projects. Check her out, too. I have a pretty large collection of her work . . . maybe a few that I will let go, only because I have duplicates. I had one Nakk piece I sold (it was a duplicate in a different fabric), and I miss it. I'm getting stingy as I suffer the pangs of loss shipping out this wonderful stuff. But I'll feel better and more generous when you start posting YOUR treasures . . . bahahahahaha...

onceuponathyme @lululady For me - when it came time to start getting a handle on my racks I made the (somewhat arbitrary and in some ways ridiculous) "rule" that if I haven't had it on my body or someone else's body in the last year it would go. That has made it easier for me, somehow, although because of the nature of the things I've costumed in the last year (Fairy Queens, the Mad Hatter, Queen Elizabeth) I'm "keeping" some pretty crazy things I won't likely need again, and fabulous things I love (like this DTK jacket and the Galliano dress that went to Kristen @styledbykblake have moved on to new loving homes. But I keep telling myself I'm making room for the NEW wonderful things I'm going to have as soon as my "collection" becomes more reasonable! :-)

onceuponathyme @lululady No, Taylor, I'm sorry to say you won't find another of these jackets. If you take a look at the tag, you'll see this is one of those rare pieces that Jane made with the hand signed tags. I doubt she made 2 of them alike. I purchased it from a little boutique that only sold limited editions -- they sold the Morgan Puett things I own, Nakk, DTK, a few other designs by tiny houses, and their own creations - mostly one of a kind pieces. Sadly, the boutique has closed... I went back a few years ago, and it was gone - no one knew where the owners had moved to. :-(

I have a similar cut silky piece in a pretty burgundy/whine & black... Only the shoulders & sleeves are not full like this & it's a challenge for me! I'm thinking of listing it, but I love it so! I wore it once, cleaned & stored since! I had these killer button up black antique look 4" heels, with suede, they were awesome! My toddler girls thought so too & I'm sad to report, those gorgeous old time button up beauties succumbed to the dress up days gone by of my beautiful red haired princesses! They still talk abt them lol. 💃💃💃💃😘

I got in 1989 and no one wore styles like that, when I saw it in a boutique I fell in love! onceuponathyme @shanna_dykes Yes. I'm 5'7" and 160... highly pear shaped - about 36 30 38. No, there are no returns for fit on PM - I'd recommend measuring something else that you like the fit of and comparing. I'll dig this out tomorrow and measure it flat - but it's an A line - it'll be hard to figure out where exactly the waist and hips are, but I'll try to figure it out.
