rozsingh @angely001 ah, you found the screwbacks I was thinking of converting to pierced. Yes, these earrings are delicate and beautiful! Thank you. I listed them before realizing I could convert them to pierced. In their current state, they are collector's items. Not sure if I'd destroy their value by converting to pierced. The designer Jules Brenner stopped making fine pieces in the early 60s and it's unusual to find pieces today. These were my mother's earrings and I don't think she ever wore them.

rozsingh @singaporejones I'm sure you saw these clip earrings I've listed but they are expensive due to artist that crafted them. This is one of the pairs I've debated converting to pierced for myself because they are light and just beautiful in person. My only hesitation was potentially destroying their value by doing that to them.

singaporejones Oh, damn, no, I missed them! Jules Brenner, I am six kinds of stupid for missing these. ArRRGgh Ihatebeingpoor. :( But yeah, if you have a jeweler you trust... it looks sort of like the solder for the clip could be removed without hurting the earrings. But if you want to wear them, I'd go for it, after consultation, of course. I wouldn't want to devalue them either, but without sounding preachy, I have to remind *myself* that art is meant to be worn, so the wearer enjoys it, and everyone else gets to see it. It's why I need to sell a good bit of my own things -- they're just not getting worn enough, and that's sort of a crime. So between maintaining the "intact" value of these earrings and getting to wear and enjoy them... I'd probably, er, probably, go with the latter. But it'd be a tough decision, I admit.

rozsingh @singaporejones thanks for your opinion. I thought the same thing on the solder and any decent, not even "good, jeweler, LOL could lop off the screw clips and add posts. I love the earrings. They were my mom's but never saw her wear them. I'm assuming she got them as a gift. What a shame I can't ask my parents about their story. It can't hurt to get them to a jeweler to ask...perhaps in a couple of weekends. I have to work this weekend and have very long work days next week. Ciao Bella!

I don't make any of this jewelry, just have known and worked withe the artisans and suppliers for years and years. These earrings were actually my mother's and are collector's items because of the artist that made them. They are striking in person & if pierced, I would never have listed them.
