My prices are so fair and I always take at least 20% off bundles and I always go lower when offered a reasonable price. But to be insulted by ridiculous low balling is just RUDE. What is a rude offer you might ask, well if something is $15 and you ask $5. I'm all for trying to get a bargain and I do realize that a lot of these things are used items but Posh takes so much out even if I accepted $5 I would make 2.

desidooo I feel like I am so fair in pricing and reducing. I also feel like asking me to go lower and lower with no intention of buying is just so mean. I made a bundle for someone with a great price and after negotiations, taking the time to create a photo etc. they said...ok great when I get the money I'll buy. WHAT?????
Aug 13Reply
desidooo
desidooo I hold items, I lower prices, I really try to help people purchase an item they really seem to love. I understand Posh charges a lot for shipping HOWEVER Posh also takes a lot from a sale. 😊

I had this woman bundle a whole bunch of items, I gave her more than 30% off the bundle price. I set up a photo with everything....and she says " ok great when I make some sales and get some money I'll purchase".....lol WHAT?????? That could be never!!! Lol

joliefille
joliefille AGREED on EVERY point! Mind if I copy the listing idea to my closet? I wish people would read and not assume everyone negotiates or gives x amount or percentage off anything. Posh should really come out and say that aside from egenral rules each closet can make their own rules on pricing and negotiation. If someone wants to entertain lowballers thats their business, but not all of us operate the same.

ball_mom
ball_mom I don't normally complain 🙊 BUT my new low was a person who wanted to bundle 4 items... And offered me less than the cost of ONE of the items she'd liked! Basically, she wanted an 80% discount on her bundle of four items. What?!?! 💩 It helps to vent! 😉
Sep 20Reply

Sep 20Reply
desidooo
desidooo @ball_mom crazy. If you read this post, you saw I went as far as lowering my prices, making a new listing for this lady's bundle, tagging her, and only for her to say "ok when I make some sales I'll purchase". Lol WHAT???? Why torture me and waste my time? Lol
Sep 20Reply
ball_mom
ball_mom Crazy. I see things like this all the time when I'm browsing, and then I had a lady get upset with me the other day when I didn't want to haggle prices on my actual listing. This is why! And, no, she didn't end up purchasing, either. I offered her an amazing discount--no bundle--and she said she gets in-store discounts and could get it new for slightly more. If that's your plan, why ask me a zillion questions? If I'm asking questions, I'm seriously considering it! Heavens. Okay. Feels better to vent. 😉
Sep 20Reply
desidooo
desidooo @ball_mom I know. I price my items usually with room to negotiate. And I'm (well I feel I am lol) very fair. And if someone truly wants so etching and lives it I don't mind lowering the price. Rather them enjoy it than sit in my closet unused. But some people ruin that by being insulting. The fact is these are MY items and I can basically charge what I want, fair or not, over priced or not. You don't have to buy it lol. Oh well....it's the nature of the beast I suppose. I still love to posh and for the most part people here are great. 😊
Sep 20Reply
ball_mom
ball_mom Absolutely! There are hundreds of amazing ladies for every one of the frustrating ones. Normally it doesn't bother me. Hey, I love a great deal, too. It's just when they seem to come back-to-back. If I didn't love it, I wouldn't be around so often! 💞

coral_jaden
coral_jaden i LOVE this post....you are all the way right. i'm very new here....still learning the ropes....but i had my first sale a few days ago....and it was an interesting experience. the original price was $22, i listed for $15 BRAND NEW. after a few days i adjusted the price to $13 and posh discounted the shipping. this girl offers me $8!! i'm new and really wanted to make my first sale...but selling for $8 meant $5 for me (less than what i paid)....i declined....she offers $10....i just shook my head and declined....i felt like "if you can pay $10 you can pay $13. why pinch over a couple dollars? it was kinda silly....but immediately after i declined her $10 offer, she clicked buy on the $13 price. but by then the window for the discounted shipping had passed....so all of that was a waste of time right? oh well, i made a sale....yay me! and she will receive a new good quality item for much less than she'd pay in any store. so yay for her too....i guess. lol
Nov 23Reply
desidooo
desidooo @coral_jaden you are so cute. We want to make a sale and be fair..... And fair to ourselves. I always consider the buyer pays for shipping HOWEVER posh takes so much for themselves as well. Sometimes i just want to clear my items out. You can also offer a lower price if they would like to bundle with another item. 😊 welcome to posh.
Nov 23Reply
coral_jaden
coral_jaden awwww thanks @desidooo lol i appreciate the bundling suggestion and sharing my closet too.

missmayra__m
missmayra__m I came across this post on Google. I'm new to Poshmark and feel that I have listed my items at fair prices but the offers I get are up to 65% lower than the already discounted price! I accepted because being new, I thought I was supposed to take the offer but now I see that I don't! Thank your for this!
Aug 16Reply
desidooo
desidooo @missmayra__m welcome to posh!!! Lol I made his post because sometimes people offer me half of what I'm asking. My prices are low AND I always go lower by at least 20% asking price. I made it when I was frustrated. Glad you saw this. You do not have to accept every offer especially if you feel it's worth more. Happy poshing
Aug 17Reply
missmayra__m
missmayra__m Ohh one more question! What about the people that seem to purchase your item to resell for more?

craziebelangie
craziebelangie I just had someone offer me $20 for a Bridesmaid dress I have listed at $60. I actually would rather keep it for $20. I'm gritting my teeth at the fact I even generously lowered it to $60. It's versatile and comfortable; very pretty. I do have another dress listed, cheap; a prom dress but it is significantly older style from 2004 and is very wrinkled from storage and would find this style harder to sell. offering 50% +or more off someone's listed price is a slap in the face! 😡
Sep 08Reply
desidooo
desidooo @craziebelangie isn't infuriating? When it is offered through the offer button, I just decline it if it is insulting. My prices are fair, with a little wiggle room for negotiation. I usually, depending on the item will go as low as 20% off the marked price, but someone offering you $20 for a $60 item? No way lol. Did you look in her closet at her prices? I often do that as well. Don't let me discourage you though, for the most part this is a great place to sell and buy. Happy Poshing
Sep 08Reply
craziebelangie
craziebelangie Yeah I did look at her closet.. She wants $60 for a pair of jeans. 😑 Should I now go over $20 on them?! Lol! She offered in the comments. I have bought three items on Posh so far. One needed to be returned and the girl was kind of a bit rude about it. The shoes has stains and reeked strongly of chemicals. Thankfully they refunded my money. There are always those few people in every bunch!
Sep 08Reply
desidooo
desidooo @craziebelangie my success rate is sort of 40/60 on purchases. 40 being the good items. New with tag items are always your best bet lol. It's hard to please everyone, people don't ask questions and then purchase items and are not satisfied. It's important to ask all the questions before you purchase. 😊

cosmotini
cosmotini ❤️❤️❤️ this @desidooo 💐👍🏼💐 I've trolled thru ur comments on this post & experienced all of these... 😏 I wish that there was a minimum (that we the seller sets but buyer can't see) on the offer button.. so that if someone makes an offer 2low... then it automatic gets rejected & then maybe the buyer would get the gist of what the seller means by "REASONABLE OFFERS" 🤔 I have taken most "offers" since being on here cuz they are usually reasonable. 2 be lowballed is completely a insult, smh 🤔
Oct 15Reply

gemspark
gemspark @cosmotini @desidooo Posh seriously needs to implement that "auto reject" function. Ebay has this already. I no longer drop prices so low and I list higher so that people would stop this madness. Even if you list items at rock-bottom, people would still want to go lower just because that "offer" button is there and a lot don't read your description that your "price is firm". Sometimes I just dropped the price of an item and immediately, people would offer something even lower. Wow indeed. O_O

She still asked for the original prices to be lower. She had 9 pieces of fine jewelry, all over $100 on their own. That would have been $10 a piece. Claire's is more expensive that that let alone DIAMONDS & GEMSTONES by DESIGNERS.

dmitten52 I have a question. This makes me so mad. I had my first lowball offer after I had already dropped the price of a really expensive dress that was NWT. I went to her page after to find she is selling similar rare pieces at 150$+ and only tried to buy my 100$ piece that I lowered to 40$ at 30$ and then also tried to get another item for free basically. Do you think she was going to resell the item? Super extremely rude and makes me so angry.

slitheen
slitheen I just leave a comment on the listing restating everything I said. High end face mask retails for $48, I listed at $30. Offer was $15. I tagged and commented "this retails for $48, is brand new, still sealed, and in perfect condition jsyk." No response. I mean really it comes down to you can either go buy this item full price or get the exact same thing ridiculously discounted. Why would you insult me as if I'm selling something with no value??
Jun 27Reply
august_eagle
august_eagle @natesclothesetc people aren't trying to insult anyone. It boils down to some people not having the money, so they offer as they do. I thinks it's shameful when someone tries to sell completely used broken down items for half the original price! Shoes that have been worn their full lifetime shouldn't be for sale! And the same for clothes! 😤
Jul 09Reply
desidooo
desidooo @august_eagle it's not shameful to sell your items for what you think they are worth. There's the "pass on by" option to things you feel aren't worth what someone is seeing them for. Someone offers me less then half, then I go look at their closet and they have higher priced items then myself. I'm sure there are exceptions, and if someone is that in need, poshmark is definitely not the place, there are sites with no shipping fee that would be better. Poah takes 20% remember that as well

Jul 09Reply
tiashanee
tiashanee @desidooo I have some high end items brand new and people want them for 95%. Poshmark should create an option for sellers to put a minimum amount for buyers to offer and if they send an offer less then that amount then their offer will be automatically declined with a message "sorry your offer is too low please make a higher offer"
Jul 09Reply
desidooo
desidooo @tiashanee that's a great idea. When I joined posh, years ago, seeking things was so easy, prices were lower because posh didn't take as Much as they do now, and shipping was lower. Less compotision. Things have really changed and selling is Moyer difficult. I get people trying to get the lowest prices, but they have to take everthing into consideration

I just reduced my asking to $195 as it is a limited Alice + Olivia made dress that is sold out. So yes, unless you're mathematically challenged, $80 on $195 on a $370 item is rude.

desidooo
desidooo @summerbreeze7 that is an absolute lowball offer. Like I said I understand everybody here is trying to get a good deal but Poshmark takes so much money from the sale. You're offering her less than half of what the price is and you don't think that's a lowball offer?

fashiongoldmine New to Posh... I think my prices are fair but not the lowest you can find either - I'm not a charity... I didn't expect for literally every sale I've had so far to be done with offers. I have sold 3 items out of 50 at the original asking price... that means 47 of my sales were done through offers!
Oct 16Reply
fashiongoldmine
fashiongoldmine I've received offers as low as $9 and usually I just ignore the "yay! You've received a new offer!" Notification because it's hardly within my wiggle room, which usually ill take off $5 but rarely more unless bundled. Need some advice.. should I be pricing my items higher to make for better offer negotiations?

avenueposh @missmayra__m same!! I hate the whole “offer” thing. I have that turned off on the other site I sell on. And people just pay what I’ve listed it at! Imagine that!? I came over here and it’s like some kind of crazy haggle market. I have a new pair of boys Trail sneakers up that are Merrell with tags on and box - price tag on is $70. I had them up for $30. I was offered $24 for those AND another pair of shoes together! So she gave herself a $6 discount on those plus a free pair! Wtf?!

catherinefburke
catherinefburke I wish Poshmark would take less from the sale. 20% is A LOT! Especially compared to other sites. It’s hard sometimes to cover even the cost of the product the margin is so low. I’d have a bit more room for negotiations if their cut wasn’t so extreme. Being offered 55% discount rate from a customer is also extreme though and I can’t do that. I usually can accommodate a reasonable discount. If they don’t want to cut their % they should offer eat the shipping on items over a certain amount.
Nov 01Reply
desidooo
desidooo @catherinefburke it really is a lot I'm not familiar with any other sites, but do the other sites include shipping
Nov 01Reply
catherinefburke
catherinefburke @desidooo usually not, but 10% cut for the site is usually the most. And they ship based on weight, where it’s generally standard here with the occasional discount on shipping. I’m starting to look into other places, as I don’t think the buyer or seller is doing well here

dcsdesertcloset
dcsdesertcloset @desidooo I love this post and the trailing comments as well. I'm relatively new to Posh and was wondering if you or anyone else on this thread has had someone ask for an additional item from my closet, for FREE, that was not included in the bundle they created and bought? How do I respond to that?
Nov 02Reply
desidooo
desidooo @dcsdesertcloset when Posh first started there was not a bundle option you had a bundle your own items. If somebody was buying maybe three or four tops and they had another like that was like a tank top or something I would give them a bundle price and maybe throw in the tank top for free. Pasha's changed a lot though since then
Nov 02Reply

dcsdesertcloset @desidooo Hi! Thank you for the explanation. I just found it strange because she didn't add either of those pants to her bundle, accepted the bundle, then asked for free items, one of which was listed for $20. Maybe I'll just ask if she wants to add it to the bundle and I'll discount it. Thanks for being so responsive!! Have a great night.

erwynna
erwynna I am new to posh, and wouldn't dream of lowballing someone, but have had it done...was offered $10 for an item I had listed for $45! I did offer someone $45 for an item she had listed for $80, BUT I know that item retails for $55 and she had worn it "a handful of times". It has just been marked up for being a hard to find print. I am not gonna pay $80 for something used that only cost $55 to start out unless its NWT.
Nov 18Reply
desidooo
desidooo @erwynna I agree it's frustrating when people price their items at a high almost unreasonable price, however, it is their item and it is their choice on what they want to sell it for regardless. Remember posh takes 20%. I personally price some items higher with the intent to wiggle when someone offers me a price. Anyhow, welcome to Posh and thanks for the post 😊

jgdoubleu
jgdoubleu Hi! I am new and had a question about countering a low ball bundle offer. The items alone are $98 combined, which is ~$83 with 15% discount. If I respond to offer for say $70, will Poshmark take another 15% off that too, or would buyer just see a counter of $70. Thanks sooo much!
Jan 18Reply
desidooo
desidooo @jgdoubleu hi there, posh only takes their cut of the sale no matter what the price. You decide your discount and if you are bundling you need to make a separate post with that bundle price tag the buyer and then they can purchase or make an offer. But again posh only takes their cut which I believe might be 20% of the sale. They also tell you your earnings when someone makes an offer. I hope I was able to help. Good luck and happy poshing
Jan 19Reply
jgdoubleu
jgdoubleu @desidooo thanks for your reply! I don’t think I explained my problem correctly. So in my closet I’m offering to bundle 2 items for 15% off. So that brought the price to $83, which the buyer countered at. If I were to counter her low offer with $75, will Poshmark take another 15% off again bc it’s a bundle and the. and show the buyer I countered at 15% off of $75?? Sorry if I’m not making sense 😉
Jan 19Reply
desidooo
desidooo @jgdoubleu I'm not understanding. Why would posh take another 15%?

charlottefash I am new to Poshmark. All of my listed items are NWT. I just responded to 2 lowball offers by restating that along with the percentage off retail that the item was listed (in this case 21%). I mean with that along with the 20% that Poshmark takes, how much lower are we expected to go?!?
Jan 23Reply
desidooo
desidooo @charlottefash This is YOUR closet, you set the rules. You can charge $100 for a pair for used socks if you want. You can counter offer, you can lower a price, you can decline an offer at your own discretion. YOU are the boss. You owe nobody explanations, but if you feel inclined to do so, then do it. I personally always price with wiggle room to negotiate. I also usually will go down 20%. Most of my items are gently used so I’m ok with not making a profit or my money back. You do you girl!
Jan 23Reply
desidooo
desidooo @charlottefash p.s. you also do not want to price items that after shipping cost the buyer more then if purchased online from the brands website. Example, if I have a $100 purse NWT and I sell it for $90 it’s actually costing the buyer about $100 with shipping.

To which I will decline them as well...which gives me a hearty chuckle.

jsd99 Also, you can let them purchase at the lowball price and then cancel it hours later, inserting a heavy dose of Euphoria and despair in a short time. jennytxoxo Can I ask what you would consider as lowballing? And what you guys consider to be a good offer? I’ve heard many different people say a good offer is 70-80% OF THE ASKING PRICE while lowballing is asking for 50% OFF (or under.) I guess it depends on person to person but this thread is so interesting and I’d like to hear opinions!
Jun 10Reply

desidooo @jennytxoxo if an item is$50, offering 25 is lowball. I think asking 20% off listing price is fair. When I price my items I always price a little higher with room to negotiate. If i'm selling something I want 40 for, I'll list it for 50, but usually wo take 30-35 That's just me

desidooo @aperfectbuy When I 1st joined posh there weren't that many closets. It was a lot easier to sell your items. Now that posh mark has become such an Empire and there so many closets it's a little bit harder to sell. However we all are trying to make a little money and posh takes so much from your sale and charges so much for the buyer shipping sometimes it's hard.

thi_dang92
thi_dang92 Someone lowballed a pair of boots I am currently selling. I declined with no counteroffer. As retaliation they posted a link to the item priced at a third party vendor says that it’s lower priced on that website! 🤦🏻‍♀️ So rude!! I’m a a bit new to Poshmark but I’m so surprised people do things like that. My question is where do I go from here? 😕
Jul 16Reply
beantownthreads
beantownthreads @thi_dang92 Worse when it comes from a competitor selling the same item for more $$-I declined her. If you have the item they want in the size they need, there's really no comparison-you can sell for less if you want to move on or hold for a higher price pending your individual circumstance-eventually, current competitors will deplete their stock and you'll have a bette chance of getting your price-can be exhausting though!
Jul 22Reply
beantownthreads
beantownthreads @desidooo And good for you for putting this out there-especially when it concerns other sellers that are doing the lowballing. They know what it cots to sell here and would never accept what they feel they're entitled to offer.

court_996
court_996 Is a $75 offer on a $100 listing ok? I’m new it sounds like posh fees are high? Also, has anyone let an offer go to expiration and can you see those expired offers?
Jul 22Reply
court_996
court_996 I offered 70 initially but it expired so I’m not sure if Seller is active or just not happy with the offer.
Jul 22Reply
court_996
court_996 Ok I just found a chart someone posted.. 20%! I use other selling platforms and get charged 10% max.. I feel terrible! So I know this obviously doesn’t exclude habitual low ballers but I just think most people (myself included), just genuinely don’t have a clue how much the seller is out after fees. I think it would really help for all sellers to post a chart in their closet!

missypoo2u
missypoo2u Feeling super frustrated with low ballers. Just priced dropped with closet clear out but apparently that is still not low enough. What is the point of price dropping if they still want an added discount? Sorry I don’t get my items for free, they are not from my closet and no, I don’t do this for shits and giggles. Why like my item if you never accept my offers? I guess I’m supposed to give 99% off. Trying to stay cheerful through clenched teeth lol!
Aug 04Reply
desidooo
desidooo @missypoo2u it’s frustrating for sure. I believe people are looking more for a discount then ever due to the high shipping fee, and again, posh takes a high amount from the seller as well. Hang in there girl. Happy posting.

milamaeshop @missypoo2u i have the same feeling. People keep asking for more than a 50% discount and all my items are NWT. I sell on other platforms, but this makes me think twice about selling on PM now. Its so rude. I just immediately decline. I don't even counter anymore cuz if I do its my listing price.
Aug 10Reply
missypoo2u
missypoo2u @milamaeshop exactly! I thought all the low-ballers were on eBay Lol! I can understand new poshers not knowing the costs involved but when the low offers come from other sellers, pleezzzeee!! Especially when the price is like $5-6 and you are are going to end up with 52 cents or something ridiculous haha! Thankfully most of the buyers are awesome!
Aug 10Reply
milamaeshop
milamaeshop @missypoo2u Thats awesome. I just started selling on PM, but im having terrible luck. Im wondering if I should just raise my prices to give more room to bargain. I been getting a lot of offers 70 to 80% off the retail price. What has worked for you?
Aug 10Reply
missypoo2u
missypoo2u @milamaeshop I’m still relatively new and still learning. You have to have items that people want at a good price but there is a fine line between a price that makes you and the buyer happy. I’m not interested in joining the race to the bottom. $2.00 profit is not worth my time and effort. Just keep building your closet with the best merchandise you can find at a price you can afford and price your items so that you have wiggle room for markdowns.
Aug 10Reply
desidooo
desidooo @missypoo2u hi welcome to Posh!!! When I first started the werent many members, so selling was a breeze. I always try to price with wiggle room. Also, im .not trying to make a living here, just trying to sell and make a few extra bucks. Now the are so many members selling is harder. The key is SHARE SHARE SHARE your items. The more you put your coat out there the more people see. Good luck

abczoo
abczoo I am a buyer who liked one item offered by a seller. She made me an offer on that item. I added two more items to create a bundle of 3. The seller immediately made me an offer on the bundle. I declined after just a few minutes because I decided just to buy 2 of the 3. I didn't ask her to go lower, ask questions, for extra pictures or even make a comment, I simply wanted to only buy 2 of the 3 items. But now I can't buy them - it seems she has blocked me. Just for declining one offer.
Aug 12Reply
desidooo
desidooo @abczoo ugh that’s so frustrating. I love the offer button, back in the early days it didn’t exist, people would haggle you down and then disappear. The offer button locks them in lol. HOWEVER I do believe communication is key to any sale/purchase. In the future send a message explaining your intentions, she may have misunderstood.

saichai
saichai I have a NEW WITH TAG Ted Baker coat that retailed for 539 USD. Ted Baker is *quality* merch. I posted it for $260. Someone put it in a bundle with two $70 items and offered $100 for all three together. I couldn't decline the offer fast enough. I don't bargain when the starting price is so low b/c it means we'll be ending low. Same guy offered $90 for the same coat and that was after I brought my price all the way down to $180. Poshmark should just rid of the bidding feature altogether.
Aug 16Reply
desidooo
desidooo @saichai I realize that is so frustrating. Perhaps the offer came from someone who wasn’t familiar with that brand coat and how much they are worth. The offer option is so much better then not having it. Hours of haggling a bundle and finally the purchaser agrees to a price then just poof, disappears. Wasted time. The offer option lock the offer in. Good luck

I countered at 85 which was rejected. I then decided that I don't want people like that wasting my time so I blocked them! I've been selling on another site for 18 years and have had a store with them for over 10. I block people like that before they can buy from me which is why I probably have 100% feedback

The kicker was last week one girl, a Posh "Ambassador" as they are called, SPAMMED my listings telling people my prices were too high, when they were actually super low. She talked crap on all of my listings, for hours, one night. I said, if you don't like the prices, don't shop here and move on!

frostbitn99
frostbitn99 I get the frustration, but used is used, even if it is in “pristine” condition. With sales tax now being added and the shipping cost I can’t justify paying more than I bid. I can buy a comparable new item which I can return if it doesn’t work out. Can’t do that with Poshmark. I take all this into account when I bid. I try and be fair to seller while still being fair to me. You can say no and that’s ok. But someone else will say yes because zero money is being made from items sitting in a closet.
Jun 08Reply
desidooo
desidooo @frostbitn99 you are right. however a $5 offer on a $25 item is insulting
Jun 09Reply
frostbitn99
frostbitn99 @desidooo it’s just business. Selling used clothing isn’t about making a profit and some of the people on here (not all, but some) may really be financially struggling, esp in today’s economy. Give people the benefit of the doubt and it won’t bother you so much. Haggling is always going to be awkward. Don’t take it personally. It’s like gambling. Take your cash and go, or throw the dice and see what happens.
Jun 09Reply
frostbitn99
frostbitn99 And, to just add this, the sales tax now being added should be what really pisses people off. These are used items - that tax has already been paid for! To charge it again on a used item (especially such personal items as clothing and shoes that have been worn on another person’s body) is what is truly insulting. It is essentially a double tax! I have more than once changed a bid when I saw that tax in my cart bringing up the price! Don’t know how to change that. It is so wrong!

(Bundle deal was valued at $120. I knocked it down to $80. The offer was $35 for two dresses I paid $60 for a piece.) The first time I was offered $10 for a $30 listed price. I just cannot!

Sep 20Reply

tweezybeez @cenarod it all depends on how fast you want to get rid of your inventory. Someone will pay the asking price or make a reasonable offer eventually. That would mean dropping the price to $11 (10% required discount) PLUS is eat some of the shipping costs. It would leave me with about $5 on an item that was originally priced at $20. I declined the request for discounted shipping, do you think that was fair of me to do?

apresler
apresler As the platform stands now, you can submit any offer on an item. If you aren’t willing to sell it lower, you should really list it as FIRM. It’s like any other listing whether it be a car or electronic item. I know as a buyer I would not submit an offer.

exi13
exi13 @apresler This is good in theory but doesn’t work. Because my prices are so low and reasonable I started listing ‘Final Price’ unless bundled on items. I still get lowball offers on these items. Or they will bundle 3 items which total $30 and offer $6! I just kind of chuckle and decline. I also chalk it up to sheer stupidity and extreme rudeness!!! 🌝🦋🌸🌼

a_mermaid_life
a_mermaid_life Hi! I just saw this post and wow...sooo true! I was just wondering what you are comfortable with making from a sale? Especially worn once perfect condition and NWT items. I’ve only been selling a few months and struggle with this. And how long do you wait before you lower a price that is not selling quickly?

techluxe
techluxe HaHa I found your post by googling "I will entertain all reasonable offers or my stuff will go back in my closet" I was looking for a "GIF" to post in my closet. Funny that "Poshmark" was the top result. This is my first experience selling on the internet. I have never really purchased much here because I'm crazy about "NEW" stuff from Retail Boutiques. I'm a full price girl! But cheap I am not. Its been two weeks since I started loading up my closet.

techluxe
techluxe I realized pretty early on that folks here expect something for nothing. So I don't expect to sell anything. The more I post my stuff, the more I fall in love with it. If I'm gonna give it away it will go to F&F. I will give this a month and then I'm deleting my closet!

Oct 08Reply
techluxe
techluxe I don't have an issue with packaging things nicely. I just sold my Tory Burch boots,my first sale. I wrapped it nicely and threw in a TB necklace. I just think this isn't the right place to sell luxury items. Neiman Marcus has website for used luxe stuff I'm going there. The NM clientele gets it.

techluxe I just had ridiculous experience with Poshmark they pulled my Gucci, GG belt. The buckle is scratched...I threw it in a draw for 4 years. I mentioned I would have it dipped in gold tone because it cannot be polished...only gold can be polished. PM is so dumb, they pulled the item as counterfeit. They really believe that every Gucci, GG signature belt is 14K gold. SMH. The belt would cost thousands of dollars if that were so. They don't understand luxury so how can their customers? Best to you!

techluxe Yeah ladies this is very hard and extremely time consuming. On the Gucci belt, it turn out that the new belts have 21 character stamp, the old belts are 15 characters. Every other day PM pulls my belt and I show them the receipt and they put it back. I went to Gucci they shug their shoulders and said provide the receipt. There are a few GG belts vintage belts being sold here with the same issue. I'm over it after all folks here aren't going to buy it anyway.

Before I could afford to buy high end stuff, I just walked away. Here at PM, poshers expect you to drop prices and take a loss. Another seller here has the same beaded A+O shirt I have. Its almost sold out. We both paid $597. These poshers are screaming lower, lower. If you can't afford it, you can't have it. Go buy a knock off! Yeesh

mauishopgirl Been on PM for years (top seller/ambassador). I don't take lowballs personally but I do decline & move on. I had a buyer offer me 30% & 40% of my asking. Declined both. Then offered me 60%. Even though it was a tad lower than I wanted I accepted. She then wrote me "advice" in the review that I shouldn't just decline w/out a counter, making the buyer send another offer. Girl, what?! Seriously, I feel gaslit.

Jul 09Reply
botablu
botablu I’ve asked Posh to PLEASE change their offer format to either allow offers... OR NOT. And if a seller would choose to allow an offer, they could add a lowest price considered option. This would allow the technology to automatically decline any offers below a certain amount so sellers could actually focus on. guess what? SELLING 🙌🏻 This type of offer format is what some other platforms have done for awhile now... & it’s past time for Posh to implement this too...

sellagram
sellagram Glad I found this 'chat'. Here's my take: PM, imho, should not allow offers that are 80% lower than the list price.I don't think it should be more than 35%. BUT, even if I get low-balled all day, I just decline and move on. This way, I don't have to deal with counter-offers. Buyers often come back with a higher number (if they want the item). I decline if low-balled #, and counter if workable. If the low-ball price is outrageous, I block.
Aug 19Reply

kellkie @vogue_vintage I always have to make sure that some of the things aren’t being sold brand new for a cheaper price, because the prices go down for Birkenstocks and things like that, the prices change and they can get them cheaper brand new so we have to stay up with the trend of prices.
Jan 08Reply
kellkie
kellkie @vogue_vintage Yeah I don’t really get anything like that. I live in a town that has mostly like country western And Harley Davidson stuff. I found that Harley Davidson always sells. And there’s quite a few other things that always sell usually no matter what. But sometimes all of a sudden out of the blue that item will stop selling so the trend changes, I’m in nursing school so I don’t have the time i used to.

kellkie @vogue_vintage everyone has their niche and they find out what that is. There’s some amazing sellers on here, I have a couple girls that I watch all the time and they’re amazing. Thanks for sending me this message I love chatting. And I probably will be a poshmark seller as long as I can do it because I love it. End it helps me with a small income on the sideNice talking to you. Keep sending those messages, we love talking about this stuff. Have a good new year

kellkie @vogue_vintage Some sellers just like to make the sale. And I’ve seen some of them drop their price is really low just to get rid of it to bring in the next batch. Some of them are really smart. But either way how Volume or high end, they both make a profit. But I think the high-end makes more, You just have to be patient you’re correct about that. By the way I have found that everything eventually sells
Jan 08Reply
kellkie
kellkie @vogue_vintage oh that’s a great idea. My husband checked one time to see who made more money, the high end or the high volume. And he showed me on the calculator it was clearly the higher end. I sell a lot of jeans, shoes, Nike pullover ‘s, stuff like that. My town is a country western town,I don’t go to the bins in my town because you will get run over. Down here in Florida, they actually have to have a security guard watching over the bins. I don’t even go there. LOL

kellkie
kellkie @vogue_vintage you and I agree on this completely, when I was doing posh Mark for a living it was a little different. But now I go a little lower on my prices. As long as I make something decent. And I try not to sell anything damaged like ever. I try to only sell things that are almost completely brand new. Unless it’s something fabulous.
Jan 08Reply

kellkie @vogue_vintage By the way, where I live the bins are dominated By people selling overseas. And they will sit at Goodwill all day long, and even bring their lunch. It’s insane where I live. Every town is different I guess. But they get everything. I let them have it I don’t even go there.Down in Fort Lauderdale or Hollywood Florida, you can’t even shop down there. The market is dominated in the Goodwill’s

siren_treasures
siren_treasures I'm so fed up with this! someone offered me $75 on a ring I have priced $199 that retails for $500, I said there's no way, price is firm unless you bundle then you get a shipping discount and 10% off, so she bundled that ring and a wallet which came to $230, then offered me $80, like really? if I wasn't willing to take $75 for the ring, why would I take $80 for the ring AND a wallet? do people not understand what a reasonable offer is or what "price is firm" means?

cherylv777 Yes!! This here! I had someone offer $100 on a $226 bag. This was just recently. Others were worse. Also had a $50 offer on it. I just stopped responding to these ludicrous offers. And I am not getting rich by any means, my pricing is very fair and I will entertain lower offers, but come on!

heatherbscloset
heatherbscloset Has anyone had this happen? In the last 3 weeks I’ve had several people, after I’ve made an offer and after it expired say, “ I missed the time limit. I’ll pay x amount of dollars and $5 shipping.“. Or they ask me to make the offer again. I of course tell them I can’t make that same offer for 90 days but I do the math and tell them to make me an offer that would be equivalent to what I had offered. Not one person makes an offer. Is this a scam to see if you reduce another 10%?

harpo1207
harpo1207 I was just offered $30 for a bag I have listed at $129. I just delcine stupid offers like that. It is frustrating though. A couple of weeks ago I had someone offer $30 for a NWT bag listed at $125. It's a cat bag and she left a message on the item page that her sister's cat died and to please accept the offer... really? There are other non-designer cat bags at the $30 if this was true. I got a similar request last year. Decline Deline Decline...

gemspark Amen! It's the most annoying when the description says "PRICE IS FIRM, NO OFFERS PLEASE" (first line, in caps) and they still send you a super lowball offer that you can't help but laugh/shake your head at. I even get these type of offers on NWT, rare, desirable items from popular brands. That not only shows that they are offensive cheapskates, but also that they don't read. Problem buyer alert for sure. I definitely decline or ignore and block them. 😂

birdiepintuck
birdiepintuck After years of being in high-tech sales, I apply all of my same tactic to POSH. I have a NWT Anthro dress ($45) that received a $9 offer. I countered, and she came up to $10. I found the exact same dress USED from another closet, and sent this note "I don't think we will be able to come to agreement on price, but if you check out XYZ's closet, she has the same dress and size used, closer to your budget at $18". I was able to move on, and spread POSH love to another Closet at the same time.❤

gretchen42
gretchen42 @janddhunt I’d delete this from your closet and not be aggressive to anyone on here. It turns people off. They want to buy from someone who’s friendly and easy to get along with. I have a short fuse and a smart mouth so the first few years I was on here, I had posts about closet rules and lowball offers. I eventually realized that I m doing this for the money and made that my focus and stopped worrying about low ratings, snotty comments and lowball offers. FWIW, that’s my advice.

I have to make enough to go the post office and I love it when you just list an item - at $12 cost you $65 and they offer $9. I'm not even going to pay attention to those anymore. I will sell at $12 - or I will donate.

stylishacademic
stylishacademic ALSO, giving in to the "lowball" means that one undercuts other Poshers selling similar articles. I am stunned by the number of people who try to go 40% below Posh's suggested lowest price. If it's just a matter of haggling over a dollar or two, then I might give in, but recently, a woman offered me a lowball on an already really low price for an item that retails around $80 and when I counteroffered for $1 more, she snubbed it. All those $1-less add up!

(She didn't even use the offer button--just put it in bundle comments). ARGH!

sarahcoppertop
sarahcoppertop Hmm, this is an interesting perspective. It's not something to be emotional about in my opinion. It's an item and no one is forcing you to agree to a low ball. It's just a number. I've haggled in markets in the middle east and its all about the back and forth. If you make it personal you lose. I'm never insulted by a low ball offer and I've gotten many. If you love the item don't sell it. No one is forcing you to sell or to accept the offer.

luckyyce Thank you for sharing. When I receive unreasonable offers, I feel being taken advantage of. I believe they make unreasonable offers just because I am selling the great items here myself, not through a chain store. Yet, with more sales being done, I know there are quite a few nice, reasonable buyers there like us. Just believe in the quality of the items we want to sell, and wait for the one who deserves them. Have a great weekend!

Shortly after, she blocked me, changed her name to @poshblogger & - surprise - I’ve never received anything back! Posh knows & won’t ask her to return them. She posts things like “always be kind” or “best seller awards” when she steals from people!!

I'm sorry many of you have gotten really lowball offers but unfortunately now the rest of us are suffering because of it when sellers refuse to respond or counteroffer. And there's no way that I can see of messaging a seller. I wish sellers would counteroffer to state this is my bottom price so I can decide if I want to spend that amount on the item or not.

There is no negotiating this, they will never even come close, what a waste of time, Blocked 🚫 You would think Posh would do something about this, why won't they? It would be so easy to add an auto decline/auto accept or no offers. If Bay can do it, so can they. Posh is an enabler when it comes to this HUGE problem.
