arsbars Hi there. I so need this, but I'm so frustrated right now... I have a random doggy question for you. I just rescued a 2 yr old terrier from HSUS after I originally went to only pick up a volunteer application for summer. 😁 So, I've put like 20 pee pads everywhere in the house and yet, she insists on going on the carpet! We take her out like 4xs a day and still!!! My hubby's about to throw in the towel... 😥 Any suggestions? Please help... 🙏🏼🐾🙏🏼

trixybunny @arsbars i love your question by the way. I think a lot of dog owners have this problem. Since you have a rescue dog though, your dog probably has a long history of being in kennels-there's a chance that your dog simply hasn't learned house training lessons. What i've learned is to catch the dog before the act

trixybunny @arsbars the dog will be circling, sniffing, or cocking it's leg to pee. Usually a quick clap of the hands will do. Catch them during the act, again quickly clap your hands with a loud clap to get the dogs attention. Then take the dogboutside so they can finish. After this you'll need to heap on the praise, my mother in law uses treats every time her dog does it's business and now the dog loves doing her business outside. Also remove the scent inside your home. Xo😊❣

ayeeitskaitlyn5 @arsbars ive had this same problem before! Key is to be firm when telling them that what they did id wrong but not mean. And praise them, even with a treat when they go outside. That way the understand that inside is wrong but outside is good

krconnors11 @arsbars when I potty trained my pups, I took them outside every 45 minutes to every hour. Anytime they'd go potty, I would say/repeat "good potty outside!" so they'd associate the two. I'd also say "wanna go potty outside?" Before and our way to the yard. It's labor intensive, but it's worked very quickly for me. Using pee pads for adult dogs tells the pup that peeing in the house is just fine unfortunately. Might by worth a try. Add treats if pooch is food driven :)
