jenrossi1217 I'm a "spoonie," too! I have a mTBI. I was glad to find "Posh" because I can't work, if allows me to keep my wardrobe up to date.

starbabyonline @jenrossi1217 Hi, Jennifer. Good to know I was already following you! I'm in the TBI club, too, along with a host of other things: fibromyalgia, stroke survivor, Factor VIII Disease, GAD/MDD/PTSD, osteoarthritis, many TIA's, chronic migraines, and a totally f'd up spine. My bizarre sense of humor keeps me grounded, lol.

starbabyonline @jenrossi1217 I agree about that being a great thing about Poshmark. I'm not able to hold down a full-time job and be dependable. I've been on disability since 2008 but I'm back in school because I can't afford to live on my SSDI alone. I may hit retirement age by the time I graduate, but it keeps me focused on something else besides thinking about all the ways my body is trying to do me in. LOL. I'm going to make sure to pay closer attention to your closet! 🌟

jenrossi1217
jenrossi1217 @starbabyonline I understand what you mean about the body rebelling on you. I feel like I am made up of random parts- and I can't find the receipts! I'm 41 and have more health issues than my 90 year old grandma in law. But, I do what I can- when I can. I was heavy in share groups, etc, last year, but my migraine became out of control, so I had to step back.

starbabyonline @jenrossi1217 I love this: "I feel like I am made up of random parts- and I can't find the receipts!" Perfect analogy!

nic39 @jodisjewelry I was just commenting to Debby!! She is going to be joining our group, yay!!! Yes, Debby Jodi and I are both spoon ladies!💕💕💕
May 09Reply
jodisjewelry
jodisjewelry @nic39 I saw that!!! Yay'!! Welcome Debby! I came to her closet to check for compliance, but saw she's a compliance advocate and in other Share groups, so then I started shopping....then I fell asleep! Lol
May 09Reply
starbabyonline
starbabyonline @jodisjewelry and @nic39 - Hi Jodi and Nicole! I always give spoonies extra shares. I'm glad I'm going to be in your group, yay! I saw it from someone I was sharing this morning & figured I'd check it out. Sounds a little complicated but I think I get the idea. I've always supported other spoonies on here but no one has ever said "hey that's me", so I figured I'd make a post last night & it seems to have worked. I hope a lot of people come in on here so I can support them!
May 10Reply

starbabyonline @jodisjewelry And I can totally relate to the started-anything-and-fell-asleep. Lol!

nic39 @starbabyonline yes, I have met a ton of ladies with chronic debilating diseases. We all need to remember to be kind to ourselves!! Don't worry about the share group it's not hard one you catch on. All the ladies are so support so always feel free to ask if you don't understand something :)

antiqueorunique
antiqueorunique @starbabyonline Thank you! First me, and then my poor fiancé too. We look normal (except for the scar down my neck) but yeah, we live the life and now I have a name for it. Glad I found you!

starbabyonline @antiqueorunique Follow Christine on Fb or IG under ButYouDontLookSick. There are so many people I follow or have become friends with dating back to MySpace days that I can't even begin to think of them all right now. TheMighty.com is also a really good site - I believe they're on Fb, IG, and Twitter.

styledlife
styledlife @starbabyonline I found my Posh tribe!!!! I saw this photo you posted and said Yay! ♡ Long time spoonie here. Multiple diagnoses and chronic pain etc. I'm so grateful to meet others here on Posh!! This is a life line and fun space. I hope to sell some items to help my medical costs. Xo hugs to all of us in the "Spoon club". ♡♡♡♡
May 30Reply
starbabyonline
starbabyonline @styledlife Yes! Welcome to the tribe at least here on Poshmark. I adore those rain boots that you have in your closet there are so pretty. I just shared some of your items. I saw in the beginning of your Meet the Posher that you're in the Deep South. That must mean you're north of me. Haha. Most of Florida is the only place I know where you have to drive north to get to the Deep South, LOL.
May 30Reply
styledlife
styledlife @starbabyonline Aww, thank you! Those rain boots are super cute, aren't they!? And very comfy. I just don't get out enough to justify keeping them. Close guess on my state! I'm in Alabama. You're right- Florida IS deeper south. But FL feels different than Bama with all the people settling there from up North or vacationing from all around. I love visiting FL. Miss the beaches so much! ♡ I'm a Pisces- so water is my thing. Being landlocked is no fun. Lol xoxo

starbabyonline @chellebellesc If you can identify with the Spoon Theory, you definitely are a spoonie. I have a bunch of oddball/rare diseases/conditions which took forever to put a name on, so I understand that "not knowing" feeling. Life is challenging enough already. There's no need to not support each other when we get the chance. Sent some extra shares your way.
Jun 02Reply
starbabyonline
starbabyonline @chellebellesc Well, I was going to say that's not necessary, but I saw that you already did. I was doing a bunch of shares for a few share groups and just saw this. Thank you!

poozer50
poozer50 Love this post, made me laugh out loud, cause, if you can't laugh at yourself your in trouble. It's hard for others to understand why I can no longer make plans even a day in advance. You never know when the pain monster is going to put me down. Don't you just detest having to make that call and tell them, not today, I just can't move.
Jun 03Reply
triciatx
triciatx @starbabyonline love this ❤️ I have congestive heart failure (Cardiomyopathy) w/ subset nuerological & endocrine disorders. People just don't understand that you can look okay and be very ill. You never know what someone else may be struggling with. I never judge 💋💋💋💋
Jun 05Reply
starbabyonline
starbabyonline @poozer50 Yep, it's not a fun way to live, never really being able to plan anything with certainty. I went back to school a couple of years ago and even following my class schedules/assignments is sometimes really difficult. That warped sense of humor really is a lifesaver at times. 😁
Jun 06Reply
starbabyonline
starbabyonline @triciatx Yep, people with invisible illnesses are masters of putting on that smiley face mask all the time and trying to fit in. I have a huge collection of them myself. 😃😁😀Today is it particularly bad day so this is probably the only time I will be on Posh all day.

bimmy123 @starbabyonline Omg, the bingo is my life! So funny and sad at the same time! And so true... I have CRPS which to most people they never heard of it. But if you check the McGills Pain Scale, it is the very highest and boy howdy it has kicked my butt! I appreciate that there are people like you out there doing all of us a huge service! Thank you for YOU!
Jun 08Reply
starbabyonline
starbabyonline @bimmy123 I know, I love that bingo board, too - lol! I have a friend who has CRPS, so I am well aware of it. I actually think that doctor's offices should have the pain scale I posted above in their offices. *wink*

starbabyonline @katieskorner Sorry, just saw this. I'm in that fibro/ptsd club with you. I will send out some shares for you a little later today. On my way out the door. @lillylife - Ugh, so sorry to hear that! Most people are genuinely nice, but the ones that suck like that seem to take up too much of your energy. Deep breaths and let it go. Shares for you too when I get back home.
Jul 20Reply
starbabyonline
starbabyonline @lillylife I don't expect share-backs. I just like to support other spoonies. Don't let others get you down. Their criticisms are reflections on themselves; not you. Go watch some cutesy-syrupy-sweet baby animal videos and smile.

bimmy123 @starbabyonline Thank you so much for thinking of me! As of now, I'm still able to type but it is hard on some days. I would love to participate but you'll have to educate me on what to do. Do I share the names of the folks you gave me? Fellow spoonies?

abidingapparel @starbabyonline Thank you for this, what a great idea for mutual support and encouragement and of course it is good to blow off steam too.
Jul 22Reply
starbabyonline
starbabyonline @bimmy123 Because we're all spoonies, I'm not going to make any kind of rules right now except to support each other as you are able. No specific number of items, no specific number of days. I don't want this to be an atmosphere where another obligation creates more stress, because we all know what stress can do to a chronic illness. Just share whoever is in here, as you are able. Sound good?

Jul 22Reply
bimmy123
bimmy123 @starbabyonline It sounds wonderful Debby! You got the right idea because you understand. And I know we Spoonies really appreciate that! It makes me want to share even more because of that. So I'll just pick anyone on that list you sent me? And share as many as I can, right?
Jul 22Reply
starbabyonline
starbabyonline @midwest_threads Hi and welcome! I have a few friends with Lyme Disease, so I feel for you. Just shared a few things from your closet - that lemon dress is so cute!
Jul 22Reply
starbabyonline
starbabyonline @bimmy123 You got it exactly, Bimmy! Pick one and share a lot, or pick all and share a few items from each closet. I usually share 5 items from each closet because that's simple. Do whatever you're up for. I'm having a burst of energy after being down with a horrid migraine for 2 days, so I'm taking advantage of it by listing and sharing a lot. 🥄
Jul 22Reply

katieskorner I'm sorry I havent had any extra spoons lately :( I've had lots of diagnostic testing to verify that I dont have something instead of Fibro. All came back negative so fibro it is! In the midst of all of this im taking summer classes
Aug 01Reply
starbabyonline
starbabyonline @katieskorner No need to apologize! This is just a "share-as-you-are-able" group. What classes are you taking? I was in summer semester for the first part of the summer, but have had July and the first two weeks of August off until classes start again on the 21st.
Aug 01Reply
katieskorner
katieskorner @starbabyonline I am currently a social work major so this summer I took a criminal Justice class, nonprofit management, and race class and gender. But I am planning to go to law school after graduation and may be changing my major for this next semester
Aug 01Reply
starbabyonline
starbabyonline @katieskorner And good to know that's the definite dx so you can treat accordingly. And good that's it's "only" fibro, even though that's usually overwhelming enough.
Aug 01Reply
starbabyonline
starbabyonline @katieskorner Very cool. I was a psych major until last semester, and changed my major at the insistence of one of my professors, going into the Graphic Design program instead. There are only 20 students who get chosen for the graphic design program each year, so I was kind of bowled over that she and another prof encouraged me to be in it as a major instead of just taking a few classes. I also took an incredible psychology of gender studies class last semester.

swanky_panky Hi everyone. I am closing my closet on 8/3 due to health (Ankylosing Spondylitis, fibromyalgia, Raynauds, diastolic dysfunction and liver failure. . It's been a great ride and I'm so grateful to Poshmark for the contacts and income. I'd love to sell as much as possible before I give to charity or friends. Feel free to make appropriate offers. I think items are priced fairly and you may even want to add them to your closet. Wishing all of you continued success on Posh. 💕

klizzyb
klizzyb @klizzyb Hi! I am newly an official spooner. Surgical diagnosis confirmed why I have felt horrible since age 12. I am now 30. The diagnosis of endometriosis, IC, and heart palpitations were all diagnosed recently. Sometimes I don't want to go to the ER for fear of being labeled a drug seeker. My pain is crazy real & always has been. I am thankful for a group like this! ❤️ A share group cut me yesterday bc I missed 3 shares out of 129. 🙄

klizzyb I have been placed into chemical menopause (technically a form of chemo) in order to preserve my fertility. 🙏
Aug 04Reply
starbabyonline
starbabyonline @klizzyb Katherine, that's crazy about the SG! I am thankful I have always been in share groups full of wonderful PFFs. Most of them have a image/info post in my closet. Unless someone is constantly missing shares, everyone understands that life happens as long as you notify the group that you can't finish shares at cut off for some reason and you finish your shares later. Glad you're in here with us.
Aug 05Reply
starbabyonline
starbabyonline I am trying to keep positive thoughts today. The company I started working p/t for scheduled me for f/t today and Thursday. I started a fibro flare (which I'm trying to ignore) on Sunday night, so if anyone sees this, positive vibes/prayers/shaking chicken bones/bad jokes to make me laugh are appreciated. ⭐️

dejavue22 I know I'm a spoony but not sure how to join in ladies but glad I found this! Been suffering from botched neck fusion in 2007 with other complications since and I'm hoping I can sell in Poshmark to pay some of my extra doc copays and meds! I feel better just reading these comments that so many people found each other!
Aug 09Reply
starbabyonline
starbabyonline @lillylife Aww, Trish, you're too sweet. I got a big smile just reading that. Mondo pain today because of yesterday, so I am not really looking forward to tomorrow. My days has consisted of pain meds, lot of kratom tea, and ice packs so far. Finishing up the compulsory SG's and will be doing my spoonie shares when I'm done.
Aug 09Reply
starbabyonline
starbabyonline @dejavue22 Martina, nice to meet you! I see you're new to Posh, so I suggest you look at the prohibited items list you agreed to when you joined. Unfortunately, perfumes and household items are on that non-compliant list and will result in other Poshers not sharing (or even buying from) you. Check my "Posh-compliant" listing for the exact verbiage from Posh. I'll be more than happy to share when your closet is compliant. Continued in next comment...
Aug 09Reply
starbabyonline
starbabyonline @dejavue22 Share Groups (SG) are a way to get your items out into the Posh-universe, to people who are not currently following you, so it is a golden opportunity for more visibility and sales. Most SGs have a minimum amount to share each day, and/or a specific item, color, brand, or whatever to share as well. In here, we're just here to help as you are able to support other spoonies on Posh. Please feel free to ask any Posh-specific questions and I'll be glad to help you!
Aug 09Reply
dejavue22
dejavue22 @starbabyonline I actually read it very thoroughly and it states they do not condone selling USED make up and perfume as that's plain unsanitary ! But new in box is not listed as a no no..?! I'll read up some more though! Thank you! I'll be back to visit you!
Aug 09Reply
starbabyonline
starbabyonline @dejavue22 Yep, I have the exact Posh policy in an image in that post. Perfume/nail polish is prohibited to be shipped by the USPS because of it being flammable. Since Posh ships via USPS, we cannot ship any of those items.
Aug 09Reply
starbabyonline
starbabyonline @lillylife Aww, you're making me cry happy tears! Yes, positive support is SO important for any spoonie. Just have to make sure you don't get bogged down in continual pity-parties. They have their place for a short period of time. Hell, I had a stroke, heart attack, and kidney failure all within 4 weeks of each other in 2008, so I had a HUGE one, lol. Con't...
Aug 09Reply
starbabyonline
starbabyonline @lillylife There are some really good support groups on Fb and IG but even those tend to go thru periods of extreme negative rumination which isn't good for anyone. My true support circle is VERY small, but I know I can talk to them about virtually anything. In FL, pain mgt is a lot different than other parts of the country because the opioid epidemic is so out of control here. I go to pain mgt but am on the absolute lowest mg's of oxycontin
Aug 09Reply
starbabyonline
starbabyonline @lillylife Ketamine is reserved for only terminal individuals here. Have radiofrequency ablation scheduled for next week before school starts back. The kratom actually helps more than the oxy's do. Used to use Lidoderm patches for close to a decade before my ins said they weren't paying anymore. Sigh.
Aug 09Reply
starbabyonline
starbabyonline @lillylife FL just became a medical marijuana state but has so many rules and regs attached to it currently, it's ridiculous. It is one of the few things that works on my fibro, migraines, anxiety, and spinal & stroke pain. Of course, insurance doesn't cover it at all, so it's out of the question for me right now because I can't afford all of the financial hoops I'd have to jump through.
Aug 10Reply

starbabyonline
starbabyonline @lillylife Trish, I had to work a f/t shift on the p/t job I just got, BUT ended up getting a horrid migraine that incapacitated me and had to cut my 1st shift short & wasn't able to do 2nd one. I was down all night, too. Not a fun day. It's still there slightly this morning, but I have a short (thank goodness!) afternoon shift I have to complete.

starbabyonline @kitty2528 If you happen to have a chronic illness and consider yourself a Spoonie, I have this *very* loose SG with basically no rules except Posh-compliance and the desire to help other Spoonies on Posh. If you are not, disregard this, but let anyone you know who is about it?

Aug 18Reply
starbabyonline
starbabyonline @kitty2528 This is a VERY loosely organized group. It may become something more organized at a later point, but for now, just share as many items as you wish from each spoonie who's commented, when you can. Example, share 5 items (or more) out of each spoonie's closet. You can do it daily, or when you chose/are able. I'll occasionally lower the "price" of this, so everyone gets a notification reminder.
Aug 18Reply
starbabyonline
starbabyonline @kitty2528 Make sure you've "liked" the post so you get the reminders. ⭐️⭐️

theeclecticeye Hi, all! I'm a Spoonie too - I have something called Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) Dysautonomia, which basically means that my autonomic nervous system doesn't work as it should, causing a myriad of symptoms. I am an RN & practiced for about 20yrs before becoming disabled. 😕 I love that there's a group of Spoonies connecting on here! I don't make much but it's the only way I've been able to bring any funds in to the house since I got sick! Happy Poshing, Everyone!

theretromuse Hey💃🏻I saw your shout out on Facebook for other spoonies and I said, "that's me!" 😀. I have narcolepsy, cataplexy, and epilepsy. My husband says that he's sure if there are other epsys I have them😄I had to retire early from teaching this year because it got more difficult and I can sleep from 3 hours a day to 20 hours a day so Posh activity can be more erratic than I'd like. My sleep is fragmented so I may appear to be online a lot, I just have my phone next to me in bed😬I'll be glad to share👍🏼

starbabyonline @theretromuse Welcome to our spoonie family here! This isn't a conventional share group precisely because of things you mentioned. I have phases of good/bearable days where functioning is fine, then go into a flare, or have multiple days of mega-migraines like the past couple of weeks where I do the minimum possible. Just share as you can, when you can.

maidmarian You lost me but whatever it is maybe you should save me some!
Sep 28Reply
starbabyonline
starbabyonline @maidmarian A scoby is a culture which sort of looks like a gelatinous mushroom. You ferment it over a week or so with sweet tea and some people add pure fruit juice. It's a probiotic drink which is good for your overall well being, but especially your gut health, mood, and inflammation. You can find it in the grocery store refrigerated section, but it is a tiny fraction of that price to make it yourself.
Sep 28Reply

Oct 17Reply
starbabyonline
starbabyonline @lovenushuz Lucky you! LOL! In all seriousness, wow, I wish my insurance would cover massage. I have an incredible massage therapist but I can rarely afford her. Massage helps SO much with my fibro, arthritis, and messed up spine, including a torn rotator cuff I've been dealing with for almost a year. They'd rather pay for for expensive meds and invasive procedures which do not even touch what massage does for helping me be closer to pain-free.

starbabyonline And, I'm off to classes again. School is kicking my butt this semester.

lovenushuz
lovenushuz @starbabyonline my insurance doesn't cover the massage either. I pay $65 a week. I agree with you. I want the holistic approach, screw the anti-anxieties and anti-depressants. Ridiculous. Don't get me wrong; I would never give up Enbrel. But the others I can do without. My insurance covers accupunture! Waouuuuuuu! Can you believe it? Good luck on your courses. We all need to have a purpose to keep chuggin. Gentle hugs, and "give me back my spine" 😂🤣😂

nia1113 @starbabyonline I have fibromyalgia and arthritis (as well as a couple more "fun" ones)! I've never read the book, but I'm very interested in checking it out! Was diagnosed with fibro in 2001 before I even turned 30. Since then it's been a rollercoaster of trying different meds, chiropractor, physical therapy & even yoga & meditation. I've learned that it's a bummer of a syndrome to live with ~but the key word for me is"live" & I try to live and not just get by or "survive" with this. ♥

They'd never say any of those things to us!!☝ I'm so glad I saw your post. You may have already said this, but what is the name of the spoonie book? 😘 💟,Nia XOXOXO 💕
Feb 14Reply
starbabyonline
starbabyonline @nia1113 Nia, glad you live by the laughter cure. It always helps! The Spoon Theory isn't from a book. It was an essay written my Christine Miserandino to explain a chronic illness to a "normal" friend. If you just Google it or visit ButYouDontLookSick.com you'll find it on her front page. It's always been a godsend for explaining how challenging life is to someone who doesn't have a chronic illness. Keep smiling! Spoons for you 🥄🥄

starbabyonline To anyone who happens upon here this week: I could use some spoons 🥄🥄 this coming Wednesday. Weird surgery (is there any other kind?) on my arm. They're opening it up and wrapping one nerve around another so it will hopefully regenerate and I don't lose nerve function in that arm. Sounds all sci-fi, doesn't it? School is in its last three weeks, I'm going to have final critiques in four studio classes, and deal with recovery on top of that! Always something to keep me on my toes!

Honestly, I don't like the price drop public because I don't want to drop my price every time Posh decides they're going to offer that. My profit margin isn't high enough for that silliness.

starbabyonline @lillylife Yep, I usually just drop the "price" on this, but I was sending deals for every single thing in my closet because I'm in a money crunch right now, so figured I'd do it on this as well. Updated my sale post; hopefully it'll bring in more sales than I've gotten already today.

ronimase
ronimase Hi Debby! “I’m fine”! I’m sure all spooners can relate to this standard reply to those that ask ‘How are you?’ It’s just so much easier to say rather than go into all the ‘in-fine symptoms. Lol Most people who ask really don’t want to know! Lol You did ask me on Easter Sunday no less! It’s a day I step up my prayers for others. “May God hold you in palms of His Hands, protect you, gently rock you and love you!”
Apr 02Reply
ronimase
ronimase (Cont) Yes, I’m definitely a Spooner! The only time I leave the house is to go to a doctors appointment. Lol! This group you’ve started is a blessing for all of us! Somewhere to support and be supported

ronimase noticed a couple of themes. Women naming their ailments-affirming and owning the reality of these painful debilitating maladies. BUT: not one person whined, compared or looked for sympathy!! What warriors! What a loving and grateful group of women fighting for relief of their symptoms and to be as pain free as possible. But more importantly, praying for, supporting and loving one another! Wonderful empathy from wonderful women! Yes, I belong in this group and I’m honored

ronimase to be among such selfless souls! Love to you Debby and every Spooner out there in Posh land! Count on me for sharing but please do not stress. I do not expect any in return. Be as happy, healthy and humorous as you can. One second one moment one day at a time! ✨💜Roni (Gee! Do you think I went over the character limit?!? LOL)
Apr 02Reply
starbabyonline
starbabyonline @ronimase Roni, only by a little bit, lol. Yep, I never wanted this to be a complaining/renumeration group and it's way too easy to fall into the victim role rather than the survivor role. This has always been a place to receive support and empathy, and a place for others to feel a sense of belonging but not try to one-up each other with symptoms. We all have them; that's a given. We are all super heroes in here, pushing through what is "normal" and easy for everyone else. I loved your posts!

I have Arthritis, scoliosis, 2 bones that never fused together, a bulged disc, sciatic problems, fibromyalgia and carpal tunnel with a list of the mental stuff as well. And not enough spoons in the day to function always having to borrow for the next day and never any leftover from the day before. I would love to join this group as posh isn't just a way to support me anymore. It's a way of keeping busy to not think about the pain so much.

srk4 I’m a spoonie, I have bladder Pain Illness known as IC. When I had kidney stones blasted 2 years ago the shock waves were too high & it thinned my bladder to holes like a colander. They think I’ve always had this & the surgery pushed it into high gear. It clicks with the many Misdiagnosis over the years. I was relieved to get a diagnosis but my husband wonders did you have that or is it surgeon error. I get you sleep to much. I have to cath to put lidocaine in my bladder to manage the pain.

qiascloset Hi, I'm Qia. Glad I found you guys. I just laughed my way through the last few images. I can SO relate to it all, but the "list of people," the Jurassic Park dude, and bench pressing a Buick are hilarious. Laughter is good for the soul, just like medicine. If only we could bottle it and make it into an actual cure. Till then... We have memes and a great sense of humor. ~ Qia 🌺

starbabyonline @qiascloset Qia, glad you found us too! Yep, laughter is what helps me get through most days. A long time ago, I was depressed a lot and it always made my conditions worse. It makes things a heck of a lot easier to deal with! Spoons to you! 🥄🥄🥄
