I'm securing my inventory warehouse in the morning.

centsible_wear @shopofthemoment the 2 ways, be careful with that.... i have heard that Firechat, and Zello are both will not work if you dont have internet or data.... so if its one of those, you might be better off with just a reg walkie. We have a regular walkie talkie that we use for emergencies, such as this. We are also cooking like crazy. got stuff set aside for several days and then some.
Sep 08Reply
shopofthemoment
shopofthemoment @centsible_wear my understanding is that Xfinity [comcast... Yuck!] is setting up 200,000 free wifi hotspots throughout Florida that you will be able to latch onto for use with Firechat. So they are somewhat redeeming themselves there with that.. Still think they're crooked but I appreciate the gesture they're making.

shopofthemoment @centsible_wear read comments from yesterday ๐Ÿ”๐Ÿ” Wawa gas line experience. Was ridiculous! It looks like the gas lines have stopped bc everyone is going home to secure their property. I may venture out with my truck for some gas late tonight. restlessangel The water that came up ended up in the nature reserve in the back. Thank GOD. I thought if we got hit it may come in the garage but it didn't. we will need to fill with dirt though where it rushed downward though. looks like a 5ft trinch on each side.

shopofthemoment @restlessangel wow! I know the wind and rain dug trenches everywhere here too. Sounds like you got super super lucky!! When I look and see what the lower keys looks like it makes me want to cry. I was just down there in July. Took a seaplane to the Dry Tortugas. I can't imagine what it must be like down there for people who have lost their entire life: homes, businesses, cars boats. It's all gone!

shopofthemoment @restlessangel so you can just imagine that it's so bizarre: No lights or people on Duval at all. There is zero cell service south of Islamorada. No power or water throughout most of the Lower Keys. It's going to take a while. I'm trying to put together a donation run to the keys. Collecting clothing/toiletries/food/blankets. Then will have someone with a giant boat bring it all down there. Our boat is too small. Can't fit enough on it to make it really worthwhile or I would do it myself.

shopofthemoment @restlessangel they have an aircraft carrier and two Navy ships deployed to KW now. National Guard etc. but we have a friend who is national guard and he said they have had him reporting every day last week in Miami and they're just sitting around doing nothing the whole day... all week long! Seems absurd. Get them down to lower keys and get them cleaning up!

pammalla Hope everything is back to normal for you @shopofthemoment. I just got my power back on Monday evening and internet on Tuesday. I live in east Ft Laud in am in an evacuation zone. Lots of trees down in our neighborhood. I think some tornados came though here as well.

shopofthemoment @kmann417 Katrina, I'm in Southeast Florida. We weathered the storm well here. Feeling so blessed!

shopofthemoment @pammalla I saw a huge ridge of clouds during the hurricane and there were 8 funnel clouds spinning down and out of it. It was the craziest thing I've ever seen. A tornado touched down across the street from me. But we were super lucky and had no direct damage here.
