I got scammed this week out of 200 dollars from a buyer I’m trying to get it back now I’ve got all this documentation she’s screwed and the FedEx senior reps are in my corner

mimi013020
@bellarockstarr that is so awful!! Omg, how did that happen? I knew buyers sometimes try to scam sellers on here as well but I’ve seen it happen less often. How did she try to scam you? I really hope you get your money back 😔
Aug 14Reply

bellarockstarr
@taaavn yeah it really stinks basically she purchased items from me worth 120 dollars I sold them for 90 she sent me the payment got the items then refunded her payment and kept her purchase but she’s screwed because I have a boatload of documentation that the bank wants me to fax over tomorrow 🙏🏽 these scammers are getting bold

Posh doesn't support trading so they don't protect from it- We need to protect ourselves instead of blindly trusting a stranger. We just need to fix the system. At this point the only resolution is 'Don't Trade' which isn't fair. What if (bear with me) when2 people trade, BEFORE accepting the purchase on either end each person adds a picture to both listings with a CLEAR and COMPLETE list of the following: Their face, a legible picture of their drivers license (numbers & address blacked),
Aug 21Reply

missmal92
the item(s) included in the agreed upon trade and a note with names, a clearly written statement of the agreement- signed & dated. At least this way, if a scammer DOES scam, this can be used against them in a shared scammer listing- which nobody likes AND they can't initially lie about having the item(s). Thoughts? If anybody likes this idea LET START SPREADING THE WORD.

In my opinion, since getting screwed on here by a buyer- very recent, like 2 weeks ago. I sold a pair of EUC authentic Yeezy Boost all authentication paperwork etc. she receives them and post pictures of a FAKE PAIR!!! Yes, I was furious!! She said I sent them and wanted her money back etc. well since I had no proof of the inside soles they let her return. I called the person out and emailed posh stating they would send fakes back
Aug 23Reply

audracook1115
After further deliberation I got the serial code from the purchase site- and my payment info that I spent the $780 etc and sent back. The person got scared and let it go. I will no longer sell to anyone who has no items listed, hasn’t bought or sold. And the page was made in July. I should have checked but now I will EVERY TIME
Aug 23Reply

mimi013020
@audracook1115 omg that’s infuriating 😡😡😡 I got SO MAD just reading this!! What wound up happening, did you get your funds back or the original pair back? I can’t believe someone would have the nerve to do this!! Ugh!

@pmark1295 sold me fake cologne. Don’t know if you know how hazardous that is but it’s very dangerous for your body. Inside and out. I just want others to know before they get hurt or scammed! Spread the word

jmb4evr2009
@bellarockstarr yikes girl! That's crazy! Why did posh let her refund her pmt?? I feel like Posh needs to protect us better both buyers and sellers. I mean my hell, they take 20% of our earnings the least they could do is protect us on their app!
Oct 30Reply

mimi013020
@lulufanatic1980 you're soooo right, if they take 20% of my earnings I am damn well allowed to expect top notch seller/buyer support. Instead Posh just lets me down by making me wait 3-5 days before I can even get a cookie cutter email response about literally anything. At this point, I basically use Posh just to interact with other lulu lovers and take my real business elsewhere.
Oct 30Reply

jmb4evr2009
@taaavn Same here!! I've started to move items elsewhere just because I have seen so many good people on here getting screwed and posh takes the side of the dishonest. I'd be an idiot to give them 20% of my earnings and a dishonest person a free item!!
Oct 30Reply

bellarockstarr
@lulufanatic1980 it was truly crazy they really need to do something to protect us it’s so unfortunate but I’ve been taking much better precaution
Oct 30Reply

jmb4evr2009
@bellarockstarr oh that's good, it's just so unfortunate that that you had to go through that. There will always be dishonest people out there and we need to protect ourselves from them. I have started to take super detailed pictures of all of my items and then I actually have my husband video tape me packing it up and taking it to the post office. Which is completely asinine but you got to do what you got to do I guess
Oct 30Reply

bellarockstarr
@lulufanatic1980 I know it’s unfortunate but it’s a lesson learned I have to really be safe now it’s so sad that people are such scammers because they don’t want to pay for high end items... that’s nuts how you have to do all of that but like you said you have to do what you can to protect yourself
Oct 30Reply

jmb4evr2009
@bellarockstarr I know right!?? Well I hope you have better luck in the future! Hopefully no more scammers🤞🤞🤞🤞

@missmal92 your idea seems like it would be a good one, although nobody would agree to put their drivers license or other personal info public for all to see- if their are people on here sick enough to scam, there are most definitely people sick enough to steal your identity! As far as the scammer alerts, that’s not supported by posh. I was scammed last winter by a nasty woman and made my first ever scammer alert. Bc I was so sick about what I had lost. -
Nov 14Reply

on_the_rocks81
@missmal92 I reported her and filed a complaint about my half of the trade (bc I received all replicas and used/destroyed items. Here’s what ended up happening; posh emails me back and says they cannot help bc they do not support trades. They deny my claim leaving me unable to give the woman a rating/bad feedback. Then she reports my scammer alerts as “harassment” and posh threatens to close my closet if I post any more scammer alerts.
Nov 14Reply

on_the_rocks81
@missmal92 there is no help for the good guys on here and the scammers are basically protected. All we can really do is learn from our mistakes and know what to look for 🤷🏻♀️
Nov 14Reply

missmal92
@on_the_rocks81 You're right. I guess not trading is really the only way to not lose them. :/
Nov 15Reply

on_the_rocks81
@missmal92 I’m ok with that now, I’ve accumulated wayyy too much clothing over the past year 😂. All I did was trade or buy last year. This year I’m just selling and trading with people who have good feedback -ONLY if they have something I really need or want!
Nov 15Reply

on_the_rocks81
@missmal92 it’s hard to trust anyone though. Some of these girls are so slick! They’ll do a few trades and actually go through with it for the feedback, then they’ll hit someone hard. Then do another couple good trades. And they’ll block the person they scammed immediately so there is noting on their page or the sold listing that will suggest to other people that they scammed them. You have to do a lot of research and creeping to figure this stuff out!
Nov 15Reply

missmal92
@on_the_rocks81That's so true! I did hella research on the girl whom I traded with most recently, @marleyalden09 (she doesn't know this but now she's going to find out that I stalked her 😂) we both wanted to many things from each other's closet. I went through her about me, looking for anybody who left pissed off comments. Messaged a few people that she traded with asking about their experience and waited for a response.
Nov 15Reply

missmal92
@on_the_rocks81 everything came back positive so I took the chance. She was great! If I was a scammer I would be so dedicated, I could start a few accounts and intermingle them for a long period of time and wait for my prey... Ha I would NEVER. Momma raised me better than that. But I could is my point and so could other people.
Nov 15Reply

on_the_rocks81
@missmal92 LOL!!! That’s so funny. I just could never do that! This girl asked me to trade recently and I looked all throughout her page after seeing she had several sold trade listings but only feedback on 2 of them. I went to the sold listings on the pages of the girls she traded with and on their listings were all these comments “are you going to mail my end?? What’s going on? You’re so dishonest! Send my stuff back!!”
Nov 15Reply

on_the_rocks81
@missmal92 she ended up ghosting me after asking to trade which was really bizarre, but I’m glad. I feel so bad for the other girls though bc not only does she relist and sell what she was supposed to send them, but she lists their items too!! And they can’t do anything about it. They can’t even comment on her updated listings “you were supposed to send me this!” Or “these are mine!! Send them back to me!”
Nov 15Reply

on_the_rocks81
@missmal92 sometimes the local law enforcement in their area will go talk to them if you fine a theft complaint. It’s always worth it to call. Especially if the value of what you sent them is a lot!
Nov 15Reply

missmal92
@on_the_rocks81 I created a new account to message a girl who blocked me once- then deleted it. They could always try that. By far the safest way is to just not trade, though. That's for sure!
Nov 15Reply

marleyalden09
@missmal92 you scared me for a second I was like omg I know I’ve never scammed anyone! Lol 😂 thank God haha
Nov 15Reply

alleycatseyes
@taaavn I’m with you. My about me page clearly states, ‘mail fraud charges will be filed family law practice”. (In fact I routed alleycatseyes website bk to the investigator after being returned a pair of fake true religion jeans. I think I’ll stop trading after reading these incidents. I hope we continue to get good support.
Dec 20Reply

k9crazii
How do we make sure we get OUR OWN item back instead of some fake or similar kind but worse condition ?
Dec 24Reply

lollipopwishes
@k9crazii RECORD EVERYTHING! take it to the post office and record the item details and record the postal worker packing, taping, labeling and scanning your package. You always have proof that way! You can also threaten to get them charged with mail fraud or actually do it. Always record so you have proof to protect yourself
Dec 25Reply

k9crazii
@lollipopwishes agreed but I have heard the case that scammer got your authentic stuff and then request a refund but then send back a fake item. Posh would refund them right away based only on the delivery of package. How do we deal with this?
Dec 25Reply

lollipopwishes
@k9crazii I would definitely contact posh about it. I’m sorry that happened to you
Dec 25Reply

lollipopwishes
@k9crazii always video record high priced items so you have proof you got back something you didn’t send out.

I sold a pair of Versace Sunglasses to someone of course I ended up coming way down on price $110 they were Brand new. she didn’t like them, she broke them and said they came like that. I authorized the return which I should not of done because I was new on here.
May 09Reply

gyenda
She sent them back, it was so obvious, but I had NO recourse. I wrote her and said thanks a lot I can’t even resale them. I was out money and sunglasses. If I had video taped it that would not of happened. I think on expensive things you should do it.

Hi I just came across this post. I am a new posher and have never sold anything before, so I just wanted to know if I should sell an item to someone who has a bare profile, they have a picture of themselves but no activity. They offered through Poshmark and not through the scams of text/email. Thank you!
May 27Reply

ijuarez4
@mtgchick2 I originally got my money from my bank dispute however when the investigation with Apple Pay they did what they were supposed to and it was to do the transfer (they win disputes even if send to the wrong person). Never again will I use Apple Pay! I deleted from my phone. I was out $350.
Jun 03Reply

lucia_ng
Wow I'm glad I came across this page. Instead of trading outside of posh perhaps just buy from each others closet with the same amount. I know you still lose some money from posh but at least its safer and prevent losing money and/or items without a trace. But just make it simple and not trade. Hope everyone's doing well!
Jul 14Reply

mattanddebby
Just don’t trade period
Feb 27Reply

mariaaggie
It also helps to ask if they are original owner and where the item came from. If they say selling for a friend, rePOSHing, or from estate sale BS, raise a red flag. Original owners are less likely to lie about where and scammers don’t want to get busted for knowingly lining about where they bought it.

please be aware of @kiana4670965. This is a scam. she wanted to take the transaction off poshmark and pay by "cashier's check." she said her husband's secretary will pay for it. and for me to please take the listing down asap so she can reserve it. she asked for my phone number and address, but never gave hers. this is super sketchy and reminds me of another form scam email i found on poshmark. i blocked and reported her.

so I just recently started selling on Poshmark. I have a sale from today for a pair of shoes listed for $45. I checked the buyer's profile it was made 2 hours ago and has zero listings. I'm pretty apprehensive about it just because of how many scams I hear of// just kind of curious about what I should do I don't want to screw up my first sale if it's legit but I also don't want to be out my product or the money

I have an offer for $200 on a $259 gown. Not too bad but the offer comes from a person with nothing on their profile and in their description says they like “Jovani” which happens to be the brand of my gown. Profile is from 2018z I don’t know about this...I feel like it may be a scam. Anyone have thoughts? also she just commented asking me to respond to her offer.

Just got scammed by deloresrob on here. Never sent the package yet somehow it says delivered. No tracking or anything. First time I have had this problem on Poshmark so I trust it will be resolved. Just hope the scammer gets caught eventually somewhere.

just received an inquiry about one of my listings and the prospective buyer asked me to email with more info which i did. her profile was made very recently and has pretty much nothing on it. Hey guys - can i get scammed by a buyer who has no history? I’m a new posher abd it’s strange that she bought one of my gowns with no counter offer and just created acct today and had no history - should I be concerned?
Jan 14Reply

beemiller5
@lisajanelle1101 I just experienced a similar sale where "user not found" just 2 hours after sale and label generated. how did yours turn out? did you send the item or cancel sale? was it a scam? I'm feeling like it might be.
Jan 22Reply

lisajanelle1101
@beemiller5 hi! I cancelled the order. I just wasn’t comfortable. The buyer didn’t try to contact me after I canceled. Before I canceled I asked the buyer about the profile and she said she purchased as a guest account. But then she was commenting from a different account, so it just didn’t seem right to me!
Jan 22Reply

beemiller5
@lisajanelle1101 thank you for your advice, I feel the same way so I cancelled the order also. but I am not finding any resources to delete the sold pic from my profile. so sad these so called guests can take advantage of us in hopes we will ship something free to them.
Jan 22Reply

beemiller5
@southernridge I am also new and yes I believe "poshguests" and new profile guests could scam us and hope we send something for free to them. my customer purchased dress. I generated label, boxed it up and went to communicate with her and it said user not found. that was my red flag something was amiss. so I cancelled the order under advice from another posher.
Jan 22Reply

southernridge
@beemiller5 thank you and I appreciate the shared experiences- the money actually dropped today. She did not accept it (lol) I had to wait the 3-4 day period following delivery - then she gave me a 4 star rating for some reason and the gown was packaged very nicely, shipped quickly and great price for such a pretty piece. Oh well
