Wild and gorgeous statement necklace comprised of 17 huge Fireball (aka Flameball) Freshwater pearls! Mostly white with Violet and gold metallic overtones. Each pearl has a comet-like tail with a character all its own. Strand is in perfect condition, only worn twice and carefully stored! This one-of-a-kind strand takes any outfit over the top elevating anything from a cocktail dress to jeans! Beautiful with Cashmere. Strung & knotted on silk thread. 825 sterling ball clasp.

@maison_de_mode Gosh, yes, I am certainly no expert for sure! To create a flameball, the bead is just gently inserted under the shell of the mollusk ( less intrusive!) rather than surgically placed inside! So pearl grows organically based on the space around it!

You are modest in your knowledge! Very interesting. I will have to read up on the subject matter more. I didn't know what this type of pearl was called. The lady who had them just called them pearls. Hers were about the size of silver dollars. They were enormous.

@maison_de_mode Yes they are eye-poppinglyāØbig and wonderfully over the top! They are Chinese baroque, called Flameballs, or Fireballs!āļøThereās a terrific book called Pearls, by Elizabeth Strack...everything one would ever hope to learn! They are not uncommon, but some strands are more beautifully designed than others! Also the pink, ochre and lavender overtones are not present in all Fireballs!
