Ok, when you say pristine , how old or new is it? since apparently it does not come with the original Hermès box. You have the offer option, are you still amenable to take offers if I make an offer closer to your starting asking price?

@oh47be64 it is my mothers, from the early 2000s. However it was never worn and stored away with my other Hermes scarves. Unfortunately we have no Hermes boxes to save space, and if she knew we were to sell them I’m sure she would’ve kept them. But it is in pristine condition as it was never used and stored away. Good morning, and thank you for your very kind note.
I was actually ready to buy and pay last night until I saw that for the first time Poshmark was charging me, as a buyer, with buyer’s protection and authentication fee, which I was never ever charged before on my other purchases so far. Those fee on top of the regular selling tax and the shipping fee were bringing the total to $530, so and that was a deal breaker to me. I have sent the question to Poshmark to know if this is something new.

As soon as I get the answer from the Poshmark team, I will certainly share it with you. My understanding was that Poshmark protection for the buyer was a standard fee for which the buyer is not charged, and I never was so far, and that if you wanted the item authenticated, well that was indeed up to the buyer to reach out to Poshmark team and pay such fee. I am not now sure if that type of fee is not automatically charged when the seller’s asking price is above a certain threshold,….

@oh47be64 I am unsure about the protection fee but I do know that all purchases above $500 are authenticated at no fee to the buyer I believe. Since this item is below that threshold I am guessing it is offered as a choice to the buyer at an extra cost. But yes please share with me the response from poshmark team

Indeed it read that the authentication was an option I could ask for if I wanted, but their combined fee was not an option, it was embedded in the tax line, and it is when I saw an unusual high amount for a tax that I clicked on the informational “i” next to it and that I got the message about the additional buyer’s and protection fee which were not optional. More later when I get their answer -I am pretty much new in this platform, but if that is what they do now, I will say bye bye to Poshmark

Ok, I have not received a response from Poshmark, but I am also cancelling my account with this platform right after this message as a buyer - I do not mind paying the price as always willing to support small business and being a collector , but this is an appalling organized rip off - and I hope Poshmark people will read this. In the case of this paréo priced at $455, which is fine , sale tax is 34,55, and their supposedly buyer’s and authentication fee are $32.54..

This represents a total actual sale tax of $67.09 on your beautiful paréo that you are selling at $455, which again is a price I am ready to pay with regular sale tax and shipping fee, but no extra whatever they say… I made the star with. $15 blouse with 5.95 shipping fee, which… ok, but he additional tax was As follows sale tax $1.70 and their buyer’s protection fee … $3.34… so you see a $15 cotton blouse and you end up paying 25.95….

@oh47be64 I completely understand why you feel this way, it does sound like a ripoff with all these fees. If it changes anything you can go through my profile and reviews I have sold many Hermes and Chanel items. All of my items are authentic and all of the items I sold under the $500 threshold were not sent to authentication.

Hello, I have never questioned the authenticity of your items and appreciate your wonderful communication. I have had a back and forth with Poshmark about their new buyer's fee, because to me at a rate of $1-$3 plus 5.99% that was deal breaker on top of the regular sales tax - In the meantime Poshmark has issued a letter from the CEO cancelling those fee and reverting to the initial condition effective today, as it appears they received a lot of feedback similar to mine.
