Magnificent Haute Couture tweed jacket and skirt ensemble from the Coco Chanel era, dating to the 1961. Crafted from beige linen tweed with raspberry red and navy-blue braided trims, this museum-worthy suit is one of the most iconic Chanel designs in history. An identical suit was famously worn by Elizabeth Taylor during her visit to Moscow and by Princess Paola of Belgium for her son Philippe’s first birthday celebration. It is also featured on the cover of Karl Lagerfeld’s short film "The Return", starring Géraldine Chaplin, and was showcased by Didier Ludot at his legendary Palais Royal boutique. Another example, donated by Queen Paola, is part of the permanent collection at MOMU and was exhibited in "The Chanel Legend." The suit appears as well in "Chanel: The Impossible Collection" and was highlighted in the "Gabrielle Chanel. Fashion Manifesto" exhibition at Palais Galliera. Overall in great condition for its age: the exterior shows no serious flaws, with only normal aging to the metal parts (chain and buttons). The interior lining shows some rips and discoloration at the underarms, and the skirt lining has signs of alteration. The jacket retains its original Haute Couture label with serial number. Best fits modern FR34/36, please refer to measurements: jacket shoulder 15", bust 36", waist 32", length 21", sleeve 18", skirt waist 24", hips 34", length 24,5".

vintageheritage Monsieur Didier Ludot had the same suit on display in his world-famous Palais Royal boutique. The same suit was donated by Queen Paola to the MOMU museum and can be seen in "The Chanel Legend" exhibition. It’s also featured in "Chanel: The Impossible Collection" book. It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity to meet this museum-worthy piece of French heritage.

vintageheritage The suit is beige with linen tweed, and it has a light shimmering visual effect, raspberry red and navy-blue braided trims, signature gold lion buttons (symbolizing Mademoiselle's Zodiac sign Leo), four pockets, elegant bracelet-length sleeves, high waist pleated midi skirt. It’s in great condition for its age.
