fdhorsman
fdhorsman @hotcocoachanel I added a picture with the tag inside.

naturallyjaded @fdhorsman thank you can you show the number on the other side
Sep 16Reply
fdhorsman
fdhorsman @hotcocoachanel there is not a serial number. I double checked then I went to one of my personal Dooney and Bourke bags and I found that serial number on the back.

michellebanks Not to be rude but this is not an authentic bag it’s a knock off. Not sure how you got it but thought I would let you know , so you don’t have any issues later.

scmcdonald1 @michellebanks thank you for telling her it's a fake. it's so sad, unless you have a trained eye and know what to look for, knock offs can be tricky. I'm sorry you got fooled!!

fdhorsman I just called the place and they said they are authentic. So I asked about the serial number and they said that means nothing. I said well it does to people who want authentic Dooney and Bourke. Then he said he couldn’t find my purchase information. Go figure sounds like bullsheet to me.

naturallyjaded @fdhorsman turn them into the BBB they're so many of these scam sites popping up that it's ridiculous. counterfeit florentine is a new item I'm used to seeing counterfeit vintage.

fdhorsman
fdhorsman @hotcocoachanel ok. I switched it to not for sale but what to do now ? What would you suggest?
Sep 16Reply

naturallyjaded @fdhorsman I would dispute with your credit card company or P*a*y*P*a*l isn't you used them
Sep 16Reply
mybonnie2
mybonnie2 @fdhorsman if I was you, I would send this bag to Dooney & Bourke for authentication. I have a gut feeling that this bag is an exclusive made for Dillards. There are a couple of things different, those front pockets should have snaps, and there's no number on the tag. But, if it is an exclusive, it may have been made a touch different. For the cost of shipping, then you will know 100%.

fdhorsman @hotcocoachanel thanks for your help. I did just call Dooney and Bourke and she told me about shipping it to them for authenticity. Just like you did. She also said not all Dooney and Bourke have a serial number.

naturallyjaded @fdhorsman the Clayton however does have snaps on the pockets to secure them

fdhorsman
fdhorsman @hotcocoachanel I sold a black one that did include everything serial number, registration card and had snaps. But the Dooney and Bourke lady did say not all have serial numbers and some have a white dust jacket. I am just so confused
Sep 16Reply
fdhorsman
fdhorsman Thanks I have taken enough of your time
Sep 16Reply
naturallyjaded
naturallyjaded @fdhorsman I've never heard of them not having a serial number that's how they authenticate
Sep 16Reply
mybonnie2
mybonnie2 @fdhorsman send it in. I have a feeling that this might be real. Please post here when you get an answer. We all can learn something one way or another.

fdhorsman
fdhorsman @mybonnie2 thanks. I’m boxing it up now and going to take to PO today. Dooney and Bourke said it could take up to 2 weeks for me to get an authenticity letter and 4 to 6 weeks to get my purse back to me. But I certainly don’t want to fraudulent people.
Sep 16Reply
mybonnie2
mybonnie2 @fdhorsman Good luck. Usually, fakes are not this close to looking like the real deal. I am very interested in what you discover!
Sep 16Reply
fdhorsman
fdhorsman Well there went $40. Guess the price is going up when I get my authentic purse back😂🤣
Sep 16Reply
michellebanks
michellebanks @mybonnie2 this is not real sadly there is a site saying Dillard’s exclusive selling for 49.99 and people sadly don’t realize it’s fake. I would bet money she’s gonna get a notification form Dooney it’s a fake. Just happened to a friend of mine. Look at the leather quality and the front pockets on all claytons have snaps
Sep 16Reply
fdhorsman
fdhorsman Well, I sent it off so we'll see in a couple of weeks. PS I didn't pay $49. wish now that I had!!!

jdamoiseau @fdhorsman good luck to you! I, too will watch for your answer. Very interested!!!
Sep 16Reply
fdhorsman
fdhorsman @jdamoiseau thanks. I have had 5 likes on this bag since all this happened. I can’t sell it before I know for sure.😀
Sep 16Reply
jdamoiseau
jdamoiseau @fdhorsman agreed!!! As a Dooney fan, I am very interested in what you find out!!!
Sep 16Reply
fdhorsman
fdhorsman You know since this has happened I’ve been looking at pictures from different Poshers and some show the Dooney and Bourke tag inside the bag but not a lot of people show the serial number.
Sep 16Reply
valerossilove
valerossilove @fdhorsman This is interesting! I don’t think Dooney would’ve done the stitching imperfectly around the emblem like that, but I don’t consider myself an “expert.” Usually Dooney stitching is so clean though, at least when I see it.
Sep 17Reply
fdhorsman
fdhorsman @valerossilove well, I have gotten more comments on this situation than all total comments since January! I guess we will all see when Dooney and Bourke check out the bag! Knowing my luck it’s not real and I will have to sell many items to compensate for that loss. I guess I could sell it as a knockoff. I don’t know if Poshmark would allow that though. I have contacted them as well but I have not received a response yet. The saga continues....

schoolofrock11 @jdamoiseau while I am not as familiar with the modern bags, I collect and occasionally sell vintage db AWL bags. I always include a photo of the backside of the tag, I also include the the number in the listing description. I do this to protect myself from someone claiming I didn't send them the correct bag. If someone returns a bag, I have proof the returned bag is the bag I sent and that they didn't pull a swap. I am curious where this was originally purchased.

fdhorsman
fdhorsman @schoolofrock11 thanks for the wonderful idea. I guess I was too naive I never would have thought about someone swapping out the bag for a fake if they returned it.

schoolofrock11
schoolofrock11 @fdhorsman a couple of years ago, I speculate this nearly happened to me. Another posher bought a dooney Dillen bag from me, it was in good condition. However, she contacted me the day she received stating one of the handles had been replaced. I had purchased it locally nwot and then used it once for a few days and to the best of my knowledge it had not been repaired. She went on to state this was the one angle I had not put up in the listing. continued

schoolofrock11
schoolofrock11 @fdhorsman looking at the listing, I had somehow missed putting up that photo. I went through the photos on my phone and realized I hadn't taken that view at all, which wasn't intentional. I asked her to make a nfs post, which she did. I noticed the placket stitching on her photos was sloppy, which wasn't the way I remembered it, but couldn't prove it because I didn't have a photo. I told her to open a case if she was unhappy. cont

schoolofrock11
schoolofrock11 @fdhorsman She was considering it, but on day 3 she accepted it, gave me 3 stars and essentially called me a dishonest seller. fast forward a few months, I stumbled onto her listing of the bag I sold her. She said was basically in excellent condition. I knew it was mine due to serial number, which was pictured in my listing. She had a second identical bag with a placket with sloppy stitching...
Sep 18Reply
schoolofrock11
schoolofrock11 I surmise her plan was to open a return, and ship me the bag with the bad handle she had and keep my good bag. I think she was looking for a listing that didn't show the view of the back. She missed the pics with the identifying serial number apparently. Needless to say I called her out and blocked her. I hope your bag turns out to be authentic. if it's not, that's a very convincing fake at first glance.

fdhorsman
fdhorsman @schoolofrock11 sorry all that happened to you. I had no idea that mine might be a fake, which is why I put Not for sale and I spent $30 (not $40 I previewed stated I bought a book of stamps) sending it to be authenticated. I will find out in a couple of weeks when they send me a letter. Feel stupid to be taken like that and I will be much more cared next time for sure. Thanks for sharing your experience. Too bad there are dishonest people in this world
Sep 18Reply
fdhorsman
fdhorsman Thanks for liking. If you read all the comments on this purse, then you probably know why it’s listed as not for sale. I sent this to Dooney and Bourke to get it authenticated. I should hear back hopefully within a week. Visit my closet any time and have a wonderful weekend 😁

fdhorsman @mybonnie2 yes, on Wednesday, got a letter of “we regret to inform you...” it’s a fake! I surely learned my lesson.
Oct 23Reply
mybonnie2
mybonnie2 @fdhorsman oh wow! So sorry that happened to you. These counterfeiters are getting better. ugh!!
Oct 23Reply
fdhorsman
fdhorsman @mybonnie2 thanks for your concern. I think now that I have the letter from Dooney and Bourke I am going to contact my credit card company to see if they can do anything for me. Well, Shit happens. Happy Poshing 😁
Oct 23Reply
mybonnie2
mybonnie2 @fdhorsman Absolutely do that. Counterfeits are illegal! Please keep us updated here!
Oct 24Reply
fdhorsman
fdhorsman @mybonnie2 will do. So what can I do with this purse?
Oct 24Reply
mybonnie2
mybonnie2 @fdhorsman How long ago did you purchase it. Did you use P**P** You can open a casevif you did. If you used a credit card, you can possibly do a charge back on this purchase.
Oct 24Reply
fdhorsman
fdhorsman @mybonnie2 yes, thanks I think having the letter from D and B should help my case!
