A REAL Lab Created Diamond is made in a lab by recreating exact temp/high pressures that occur in nature. Both=100% carbon & have SAME molecular structure.
A HYBRID diamond is cheap crystal that has had Carbon infused on the OUTSIDE. Same as how you put silver plating over copper. This has a thin diamond “plating” or layer over the crystal. It‘ll test as a diamond on the outside ONLY. Hybrids are 8ish on MOHS.
ALL DIAMONDS-including it’s twin; lab created diamond=10 MOHS.

I’m willing to answer any questions even if you aren’t buying from me. I just hate seeing scammers scam and if I can help you make an informed decision I’m happy to share what I know.
Hybrids are great if you’re buying a Hybrid. Similar to buying CZs.
Hybrids SUCK when you *think* you’re buying a lab-created diamond. Just like CZs. If they’re advertising Lab Created look at the price...you’ll be spending more than a top quality Moissanite gem & about 30% less than a mined diamond.

Will hybrids fool a less expensive diamond tester?
missstephlee
@dmgbling55129 yes, all testers as the outside layer is actual diamond, but it’s only a dusting over it so a thin layer. You would need to test the diamond as a whole such as by weighing how many carats it weighs.

@dmgbling55129 There’s someone on here selling hybrids as “lab created” but of course has a 5ct as barely over $100 which is just ridiculous. A real lab created diamond is a real diamond throughout and an identical twin to mined diamonds. The price is about 1/3 leas bcz we can mass produce them faster than we can finding them in mines but a 5ct would be approx $15,000...no where near $100.

@dmgbling55129 I get called out as lacking “posh ambassador” attitude when I try to alert anyone so I just hope this post educates those looking so they can spot the fakes right away. The ones looking over “reporting” when that I tried aren’t educated enough to know it’s fake unfortunately.
If you’re paying less than $3,000 per carat, then it’s not real.
dmgbling55129
How much per carat is typical for a moissanite? And what is the largest ct you have seen?
missstephlee
@dmgbling55129 For a top quality D, VVS1 1 carat Moissanite it’s currently averaging a touch over $600. (Prices have gone up recently)
A comparable quality mined diamond would be approx $5,000+.

@dmgbling55129 I have a 10ct Emerald cut for sale and that’s the biggest I’ve seen in person 🤩. On the larger side I also have a 8ct, 6ct, 5ct. I have my own supply of Moissy gems that I have cut & inscribed with my trademark ensuring it’s held to my high quality standards. My old inventory didn’t have my trademark (only gemologists report serial #) but as of my last shipment going forward they’ll have Jewel Eternal on its girdle too 😁
missstephlee
@dmgbling55129 so I can supply and create any shape or size of Moissys ☺️
dmgbling55129
Do you make special orders from another person's moissy?
missstephlee
@dmgbling55129 If I have something that will work for them I don’t mind selling just setting but generally it would have to be worth my time money wise to pause my projects to work on a custom setting. My time just usually gets too pricey to justify it for the customer. What size & type are you looking for tho? If I can help I will :)
dmgbling55129
Ever deal with ringjewel moissanites from india?
dmgbling55129
I have multiple sizes and shapes
missstephlee
@dmgbling55129 I haven’t heard of them but that’s not saying much. Since I have my own line of Moissanites now I don’t venture out of my own Moissy bubble much anymore.

@veronicakaufman Here’s some more info on the Hybrids & what is you may have.
missstephlee
@gescobar1 Hi :) This is just an Informational post, nothing for sale.
I do make jewelry and have several rings available for sale. I’ll tag you in one.
missstephlee
@garnetowl Absolutely! I wish jewelry sales on here were held to some sort of standard in (truthful) descriptions. 🙈

@missstephlee tag me too. I have a 3 carat solitaire oval, with 2 surrounding band, 5 stones per band so a total of 5 carats all together. And my husband’s tension set 1 carat per stone x 5, also 5 carats…is prettier than mine.! Go figure. 🙄 Approaching our 5th anniversary, I might like to upgrade mine. Thanks in advance for the “break” & education! 🫶🏼💐👏🏻

@missstephlee So how does a diamonds weight tell you if it’s hybrid or lab?
missstephlee
@ruby0102 A hybrid is a CZ with a thin diamond layer on the outside, like an Easter egg dipped in dye.
1ct of Cubic Zirconia (CZ) weighs 2.6g/cm3, whereas diamond weighs 3.52g/cm3. If it had been a diamond throughout it would weigh more.

@missstephlee thank you🌸🌸

HI, thanks so much for this post! I purchased what was listed as a natural earth mined untreated diamond ring here on posh with a diamond report that says it's EGL from India signed by "Jane Doe." I thought the inspector's name was suspicious so I looked up the provided website and put the report number in and it pulled up as expected. I was still suspicious so I emailed EGL official with the certificate attached. They said it was not an EGL report. (continued)
loulie
It was sent to posh for authentication and i just got it today and it was authenticated by posh. So, posh authenticated the diamond as described, a natural, earth mined, untreated diamond. Can I be sure it is as described, or could it actually be a moissanite or lab diamond and posh's diamond testers aren't able to tell the difference?
