UPDATE: Mark Anthony ended his battle by taking his own life a few months ago, it’s something I will never get over, if only I had a crystal ball MAYBE it would have made a difference. I miss him everyday. Mark 2 yrs ago became paralyzed from an emergency surgery. Then our lives changed even more when things worsened when he got uro sepsis. Prior Mark was independent loving outdoors God and nature. He’s was an AWESOME husband, father and friend. He had an aortic tear then emergency surgery to repair his main artery which resulted in paralysis waist down. History OT PT rehab 3 weeks, he needs more, sepsis made things worse, not that it wasn’t a challenge to begin with, the sepsis resulted n high leg tone, (hypertonia or severe leg rigidity) nearest rehab is Charlotte NC which is still 7 hrs away. Would love to get him closer to Shepard in Atlanta ?Siskins in TN? we live on edge of NC, closer to them. I appreciate your prayers. One goal is for him stand in the rain again even if with a walker or cane. We are moons away it seems if at all but we aren’t giving up. Incomplete paralysis, with some movement and feeling. I’m a nurse disabled and trying my best to care for him at home. If anyone knows of anyone or organization that can help please let us know and thanks for sharing ehembreern@gmail.com some needs are equipment a bike or something he can push or turn his legs, STANDING TABLE, portable paraplegic wheelchair. for therapy at home. God answered our prayers for a van.

iheart1290 1/6 NOV 17th, our lives changed forever, Christmas 5 days, my grandsons who live with us age 16 n 18 remind me, I have been driving a lot since the surgery (hosp is 2 + hrs away) I don’t want our boys or pets to feel neglected. My husband (11 years this mo) has always been here for us, worked in flooring installation, took care of everything since I have broken my back 2x (Lots of roses from our rose bushes outside & meals brought me in bed were countless, that’s was Mark being Mark).

iheart1290 2/6 He loves being outside fishing, camping, hiking, nature, loves the outdoors. Even in hosp I see him being strong for me. Now that he is paralyzed, since open heart surgery I have to be there for him. So much to do, we need paraplegic equipment, 0 insurance, fix the house w ramps etc, now he isn’t able to work (0 income, was self employed)

Thanks for praying , God is GREAT! I have watched Mark through all of the pain, work so hard learning to move him self on a board, he’s trying to be really positive (won’t ask for help, “doesn’t want to bother anyone”)

iheart1290 As a nurse (though I haven’t been able to work) feel I need to be with him, though I know he’s being cared for it’s hard, he is 80% deaf, he’s pretty good at reading lips but unable now as all have masks on. I have pretty much glued myself to his hospital room though “not allowed” due to Covid. He has less of a chance of getting it if I don’t come and go

iheart1290 Looking for paraplegic resources in western NC or north GA, we live in a remote area, looking for equipment, PT resources, support groups, ideas welcome. Mark was recently flown again to hospital this time with sepsis (We just went to a urologist with a cathed urine the week prior, he wouldn’t check it or treat UTI). Tone worse now in legs, a definite struggle. We are praying to God for answers. Thanks for all of your prayers.

Would love to get him in Shepard in Atlanta. I just don’t know of other spinal cord injury rehab facilities except 1 that’s 8 hrs away. Shepard is 2 hrs. lulusfringe @iheart1290 consider social security if you have not already- Medicare can be used out of state- and you’ll have income from it too. Talk to attorney for applying for it tho bc they almost always refuse first time applicants and you’ll have to appeal the decision. An attorney will get it done first time.

iheart1290 7/25 driving Tues 6 1/2 hr 1 way for surgery for a baclofen pump (ITB therapy). to attempt to straighten his legs. I pray this works then maybe some type of rehabilitation. I pray he could get into Shepard center in Atlanta. He has the potential to walk again or at the least become more self sufficient with therapy. He’s not really able to make the ride but we are gonna try.
Jul 24Reply
iheart1290
iheart1290 @hartwheels79 thank you I have done that. Going for surgery soon I’m praying that works and it isn’t too late as his legs have been contracted for a while now with almost no range of motion

iheart1290
iheart1290 The baclofen pump is not working very well at all. I know it can be a slow process but we are driving a 15hr round trip every 2 weeks or so which is difficult with him riding laying down in the back seat. I’m looking for somewhere closer. I pray something happens soon. It has been 9 mo. He is often losing hope. This is by far the hardest thing I have ever encountered in my life. I appreciate your prayers. Mark even after all these mos wakes up thinking he can walk.

aimeeb126 @iheart1290 you should really ask for a social worker through the doctors office. They can help with resources and referrals you need. even the office that you go to every 2 weeks. There should be one available to talk to. And every hospitalization he has had there should of been a social worker working with both of you on the discharge plans and resources. Goodluck!

mawrw2 Hi! I pray you both are healing! I'm sure you've already done things like filing for total disability, applied for Medicaid, etc But here's a thought...how about setting up a Go Fund Me account and see if you can collect enough contributions to allow you to move closer to one of the healthcare facilities you talked about? That would help take some of the strain off you both. People are usually generous and God does work in mysterious ways! GoFundMe.com Blessings for you both!🙏🙏 Rose
Jan 15Reply
iheart1290
iheart1290 @mawrw2 thanks so much. Yes I’ve done the disability and Medicaid, I’ve thought about the go fund me just not sure how to set up. I tried that with my late husband and we got very little results. That’s been more than 10 yrs. I just have to figure it out. Our biggest need is besides rehab is a handicap wheelchair van, (so that he could feel more independent by just getting out) an older would be fine and a way to get him in the bath.

dressedtokill58 I’m so sorry for your loss. ~THE RESURRECTION that Jesus promised when he was on earth. (Isaiah 26:19,; Acts 24:15,; John 5:28,29,; and also 11:11~44) These scriptures have really helped me get through. And also; (PSALM chapter 37 especially versus 9–11, 22, 29, 34.) This helps us to know that they won’t be resurrected back to chaos, But to a paradise like condition in the near future.. I Hope this brings you some comfort. Sincerely Tammie @dressedtokill58

iheart1290 @dressedtokill58 Thanks so much Tammie, I will read them. Its been harder than i guess what “normal” circumstances would be, if that makes sense. I lost my late husband of 18 yr at age 50. As hard as that was this is so different as I guess he chose to end his life. It could have been an accident. I guess we will never know. He loved God, he was just so tired of being in pain. I wish I could have stopped him. Its just hard. Im trying though.

dressedtokill58
dressedtokill58 @iheart1290 I have to say I’m sitting here crying 😭 after reading what you said. I’m so sorry for your loss and that he was in so much pain that he felt he had to take his own life. One thing I have learned in the last several years is that God is very forgiving and he knows our hearts. My niece committed suicide six years ago and she had some serious health issues and couldn’t deal with them anymore. It left my nephew brokenhearted. But she was too sick to stay.😔

dressedtokill58 @iheart1290 It really does change everything in our lives once someone close to you dies, it just doesn’t seem like we’re the same person anymore. There has been five deaths in my family this year. If it wasn’t for the Scriptures promises of the resurrection I probably what does Nutted up by now… Thank you, Not so many very talkative people nowadays, everybody seems so introverted. dressedtokill58
dressedtokill58 @iheart1290 I am one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. ~Jesus will awaken the dead like he did Lazarus and if you read (John 11:11~44) it shows that he had been dead for 4 days when Jesus brought him back to life. So your Man is not in any pain ,..he’s not in hell or heaven. He is awaiting the resurrection in his grave. And the Bible at (Romans 6:7) says: “For the one who has died has been acquitted from his sin.”
Nov 09Reply
dressedtokill58
dressedtokill58 @iheart1290 Another,..is (Isaiah 26:19) “Your Dead will live. My corpses will rise up. Awake and shout joyfully, you residence in the dust! For your dew is as they dew of the morning, and the earth will be will let those powerless in death come to life.” ~~ “The wages sin pays is death.” (Romans 6:23) In other words the things that you do wrong in life are paid for by you dying. He is no longer considered a sinner. He is dead, so thereby he has had his sins acquitted or forgiven already.

iheart1290 @renam72 Thank you so much, I just saw your message. Thanks for the prayers. I know God will get me through it somehow, he has before. The way Anthony died by suicide, (its even hard to say the words) is a struggle. I know he loved God though and I can only pray he is in a better place.

iheart1290 Its been 6 months since my husband Anthony and love of my life (for the last 12 yrs) gave up the fight of being paralyzed and unexpectedly shot and killed him self. As hard as that was I lost my son a few months later at 37 unexpectedly, we still don’t know what happened. Autopsy results pending. Thanks to everyone that has followed and prayed for us. I can still use prayers but I WILL be ok.

aida_shabani
aida_shabani my father has 2 wheelchairs. I would love to give one and he doesn't use his red walker that I want your husband to have. I live in California and these items are heavy and expensive to ship. But if any one could bring them to you please let me know and I will have the items packaged to give them. God Bless You.

heatheremilner I am so sorry for your loss. My heart hurts with yours. Praying for you. I don’t know if it will help, but someone shared this with me after I lost my mom a few months ago. It will not get easier, but you will learn to live with it. Stay around others, do not stay alone in your grief. You are not alone. Hugs and much love.❤️

iheart1290 @heatheremilner 1/2 thank you Heather so much. I can sure use prayers. Anthony taking his life was and still is very hard. Four months after Anthony died my 37 yr old son (with 3 children) drops dead suddenly. I really belief it had something to do with the ozempic shot being pushed on everyone.

iheart1290 @gearheadgirl50 thank you so much. Sorry for your loss too. We just never know. To just add more heartache my 15 yo nephew was hit by a drunk driver yesterday while in a church van. He’s on life support not expected to make it barring a miracle. It may be a day or longer before I can answer your measurement questions, I believe the dress does have some stretch, I’ll double check.
