NWOT I purchased this amazing necklace at an American Cancer Society gala silent auction. Unfortunately, the necklace was not accompanied with papers. It is priced below the price I paid. A jewelry consultant reports this is indeed simulated pearls with rhinestones in the clasp. It’s an incredible simulation. They are well weighted, sized 18-20mm, and knotted with a beautiful encrusted ball closure. Note the $27,500 price of a natural Tahitian pearl necklace in the above tagged photo. I cannot tell the difference in that one and mine. IMO, only a gemologist will know the difference.

merri_graceland Hi Anne @anitajc, I met with a gemologist today. She advised me on this mystery necklace. The specific attributes appear real to an untrained eye and hand, she confirmed these are simulated pearls. I for one am happy I didn’t pay more for them! She said my price is in line with higher quality simulated brands at luxury department stores.

merri_graceland @francescagomez I purchased these at an American Red Cross Silent auction for $500, designed by someone in Fort Lauderdale and valued higher. This is a classic look and it is available at many price points based on quality, just as there are many price points and quality levels for all fashion, jewelry, cars, watches, shoes etc. So, do not go in someone’s listings and say items are overpriced. It’s rude and ill informed.
