@bonniamanda laying flat unstretched is about 12 inches, it does have so stretch. This brand runs very small. I have it in lilac in a large also. And another medium in gold

@bonniamanda yes the dress zips fine as fabric is stretchy, it has a built in corset and it was just too tight for me, my friend who also bought the same costume, liked the tightness as she said pulled in her waist so I guess it’s just what you prefer, I will measure the corset part for you this evening
