Vintage Portmeirion Botanic Garden Rhododendron Pattern Drum Bowl.
A wonderful Drum Bowl in the Rhododendron Pattern which was first used in 1972.
It features the rhododendron flower with butterflies fluttering among the leaves and flowers.
It is referred to a drum bowl due to its shape. Straight walled with a wide lip on the top. The lip is nearly 1/4 inch wide surrounding the top of the bowl.
The bowl measures approx. 7 3/4" in diameter x 3 3/4" H.
The backstamp is a Crest ID which was the standard stamp first used in 1982 but can be found on pieces dating back to the mid 1970's. After 1982, there is a very small "8 2" in the blank area under the Portmeirion ribbon. This mark is absent on this bowl which back dates it to the 70's.
The Artist, Susan Williams-Ellis and Made in England is noted in the ribbon.
Dishwasher safe, oven to table as well as microwave safe.
The bowl is in excellent condition showing very minimal wear from normal use. No chips, nicks, flea bites, cracks or crazing. The graphics are bright and clear.
A very functional bowl with many uses!
