Pair of Birks Sterling Silver Candle Holders with Hurricane Shades

A really lovely pair of vintage Birks sterling silver candle holders with etched *glass / crystal shades. I estimate these to be from the 1930s. *The shades make the "ting" sound of crystal, but I can't be sure if they are crystal vs glass. The shades have slightly different grape designs, and one is taller than the other as you can see in the images. There is a removable insert that is used to hold the shades in place and the can be removed if you wish to use candles with a wider base. The candlesticks are weighted to keep them in their place. Together they weigh 1,009 grams (2 lbs 3.5 oz.), but I couldn't tell you how much of that is taken up by the weighting. As was popular in the 70s, the gentleman who owned them previously, engraved his sin number on the bottom. If that bothers you, that could easily be removed by a jeweller. There is a Birks Sterling stamp on the candle holders as well as on the insert. The underneath plate is silver electroplated nickel silver while the rest is sterling silver. There is a tiny dent on the very bottom edge of one of the candlesticks, but honestly, it is not noticeable. I've had years of enjoyment from these beautiful pieces.
