clairemccar Hi there! Stunning gown. I have a few questions. Is it comfy, specifically around the arms? How does the bustle work? How long is the train? Thanks!

annettecaton1 @clairemccar Thank you for inquiry and your kind words! This is an extremely comfortable gown and really, really well made. The structure of the bodice is so well designed that there is virtually no pressure that is ever put on the sleeve (where the bow detail is), so it’s VERY comfortable!

annettecaton1 I can see why you’d ask that question, but I never even thought about the sleeves when I wore it! The bows stay in place and are really soft against the skin. It’s truly expertly made. I’ve never seen boning sewn into a dress this well.

annettecaton1 The bustle is equally well designed and well made. It’s a double drawstring that is hidden and sewn into the back of the dress. It is a pretty easy process to gather the excess fabric up into a simple bustle if you have a bridesmaid or two who can help you (it won’t be something you’ll be able to do yourself once you’re wearing the dress).

annettecaton1 I’ll have to get a measurement on the total length of the bustle for you tomorrow. BTW, I saw on your profile that you live in South Pasadena? My best friend lived there for years, and is now in Altadena. Small world! She was with me when I bought this dress. 💖 Ask me any other questions!!!

annettecaton1 Also, you may want to zoom in on the tenth photo in this listing to see a close up of the sleeve detail. You can see how soft and beautiful the fabrics are in this photo and also see how beautifully the boning is constructed to avoid stressing the bow on the sleeve.

clairemccar @annettecaton1 The fabric looks so buttery and gorgeous. What a small world!! I actually live in Altadena and am getting married up here, too! I’ve been having bridal things sent to my parent’s house in South Pasadena :) Thank you for all of these details - so helpful. I’m trying to make a decision this weekend, so I’ll let you know soon!

annettecaton1 Finally had a chance to measure the train! It’s approximately 56” long.

clairemccar @annettecaton1 Thank you so much!! Been such a whirlwind. I’ll definitely check out your friend’s shop! Is there any chance you might be willing to put a soft hold on the dress until next Wednesday? I’m visiting one more dress shop this weekend and don’t want to miss out, but no pressure at all. Thanks, again!

annettecaton1 @clairemccar Yes of course! I will mark it as not for sale to give you the time you need to decide!

annettecaton1 @clairemccar Hi there! Just checking in to see if you’ve got any additional questions?

clairemccar
clairemccar @annettecaton1 Hi! So sorry, I had to make a sudden trip this week due to a family emergency. I just needed to measure myself, but everything got pushed to the side. Do you mind if I let you know by tomorrow?? Thank you so much for checking in!

clairemccar
clairemccar @annettecaton1 One quick question. How tall were you on your wedding day? Thanks!
Aug 11Reply
annettecaton1
annettecaton1 @clairemccar No worries!!! I hope everything is okay?!
Aug 11Reply
annettecaton1
annettecaton1 @clairemccar I’m 5’9” and was wearing 3” heels…so hopefully that gives you enough length? (It can always be shortened by a tailor) 💕 Hope your family member is okay.

clairemccar @annettecaton1 Great, thanks! Thank you - my family member suffered a traumatic brain injury while biking. We’ve been sorting out all the logistics this week. I’ll have time to measure myself today to make sure everything aligns. Thanks, again!

annettecaton1 @clairemccar oh sweetie that’s terrible! My prayers are with your family. 🙏🏻 Please take your time… your wedding dress, of all things, is meant to be joyous. I do not want you to feel at all pressured. I’m putting it back on a soft hold for you…take care of what’s most important for you and your family. You can get back to me whenever you can. There is no rush on my end.

clairemccar @annettecaton1 Hi Annette. I’m so sorry for my absence. We’ve been handling our family member’s affairs this week so I got sidetracked. Thank you for your patience! I was able to take my measurements today. Unfortunately, the dress is a bit too small and I don’t think I’ll be able to swing it.

clairemccar
clairemccar @annettecaton1 I thought maybe I could but realistically it’ll be too much to make work. It’s such a beautiful dress - I’m so sad! I’ll certainly touch base if anything changes. Thank you so much for your kindness and flexibility with me. It’s so appreciated.

annettecaton1 @clairemccar I understand completely. Thanks for letting me know. Best of luck to you and continued prayers that your family member will be okay.

ohherrozz Hi Anette! Your gown is stunning. Curious as you seem very knowledgeable, would it be difficult to alter the dress to a size 4? I read through all your comments about the stunning boning, and I wouldn’t want to compromise the structure of the dress! Thanks so much x @annettecaton1

ohherrozz Please forgive, Annette* :) @annettecaton1

annettecaton1
annettecaton1 @ohherrozz Thank you for your inquiry! I don’t think the boning would be hard to work with for any experienced bridal tailor, but suggest you speak to one in your area to make sure they are skilled at this type of alteration (wedding dresses are all typically altered to a custom fit regardless of where you buy). The sizing was customized to my measurements, so it’s not an exact size 6. It sounds like you’d need to have it altered to a slightly smaller fit which is always an easier alteration.

farrellkylie Hello, is this dress still available? It’s absolutely stunning

annettecaton1
annettecaton1 @farrellkylie yes! It’s still available. 😁
Feb 01Reply
farrellkylie
farrellkylie @annettecaton1 thank you for the quick reply! I see the dress is sized as an 8 but I also saw one of your comments that it was custom made to fit you at around a size 6. Would you say the size is closer to a 6 than an 8?
Feb 01Reply
annettecaton1
annettecaton1 @farrellkylie it’s probably closer to a size 8, I think? I say this as I’m pretty tall, and pretty consistently wore a size 8 at that time. Hope this helps!
Feb 01Reply
farrellkylie
farrellkylie @annettecaton1 okay! I am a size 0 but am also tall (5’8) so I would like to go to a tailor this weekend and show them some of these photos to see if we can take the dress in without losing any of the beautiful shape of the bodice. I am in love with this dress and am so hopeful that it won’t be a problem. I would love the dress if it can be taken in. Do you happen to have any photos of the train without the bustle?
Feb 01Reply
annettecaton1
annettecaton1 @farrellkylie the train on the dress is approximately 56” long (from the seam at the waistline to the floor). I wish I had a better picture to share with you but I believe the first photo (which shows the back) is without the bustle engaged. Hope this helps? Please let me know if you have any additional questions after speaking with your seamstress!
